I've been using google's DNS, nothing to really shake a stick at..
I would be doing direct lookups, but for some reason when i do direct lookups it takes forever.
 
This discussion reminds me of a GREAT webcast on the history and usage of DNS. I first saw this TechNet presentation in 2005 and recall it being a video. But my Vista Business PC doesn't seem to have the needed Codec and I had to settle for audio-only this time. Still, it's a very thorough and easy-to-listen-to discussion that goes from beginner to fairly high level discussions of DNS. Oh, and it's definitely not a "just for Windows" presentation.
