Google Pop up blocker-defeated?!

It started with drudgereport.com and I've been noticing some other sites too. It seems as if pop-ups sometimes are getting through the google toolbar pop-up blocker. Mozilla PFBF (phoenix/fire/bird/fox) seems unaffected.

Anyone else notice pop-ups starting to get through?

Becuase if one is able to you know the rest of the pop-ups out there will "evolve" to also.

You know what, I have noticed that. Its very seldom, and usually a flash file....but still.

did you invent 'PFBF' ?

Yeah I thought that acronym could be my Anandforums claim to fame. Just wait everybody will be using it!

worst acronym ever.

Firefox > Google toolbar

I noticed that Mozilla stopped working a long time ago on some sites, so I started looking into Firebird. I've noticed a few sites now trying to install plugins in firefox, but thankfully I'd have to actually ok that (instead of them just forcing it in IE).

oddly those plugins trying to install on firefox are tyring to hijack IE. hahahha.

I've noticed that numerous pop ups get passed the Google toolbar. WinXP SP2 beta RC1 pop up blocker > *. Nothing has managed to get through.

Link to a confirmed page with popups? Nothing gets through proxomitron, but even if it did I have firefox's bumbling popup stopper as backup. Tends to get in the way though, I should probably turn it off 😛

wow, it has been so long since I have thought about a popup, nothing has managed to get through Zone Alarm, I always use Firefox, but I don't think the popup blocker is enabled, zonealarm seems to be doing great.

yeah a lot of popup stoppers are being defeated. I finally quit IE. Use Opera, foxfir is a joke.

Thats interesting - popups on Drudgereport ARE getting past the blocker.

The one that I got was a scrolling command-prompt window that said my PC was infected with lots of spyware/trojans/viri (it's not). Looked like a Flash ad to me.

for the lazy http://www.drudgereport.com
