Google Play Music question

There might be an easy and obvious answer to this question, but it currently eludes me: how do I remove an album or other local content from my library without deleting it?

I have podcasts and lectures on my phone that keep showing up in my library when all I want to see is my music.

You'll need to create a file called .nomedia in the folders that have the podcasts in them. The file is empty, just needs to be named .nomedia and music apps like Play Music won't scan those folders for music.

Excellent, it worked.

Only downside is now those folders and files are invisible to the stock Music app which I normally use to play the spoken word stuff. Oh well, JoeVLC seems to still work for those, as well as file managers.

Thanks!
