What I meant was, Ebay functions, but the font rendering is funky - some of the fonts are normal size, while some are very, very small. (auction titles in search pages, for example)

One other message board I frequent is the same way - most are at least, 'ok' though. Anandtech looks good, though.............

This browser is absolutely fantastic. I dont' know if you can even call it a browser. This is a mini OS to be exact. Each Tab is a virtualized process. That means, if you go to a website that has a ton of malware, don't worry, just close the tab and its GONE!!! Also, here is a fantastic comic book presentation of how Chrome came to be. http://blogoscoped.com/google-chrome/

opened up a load of tabs in this and it seems to be handling it quite well. some of its oddities are too weird though. open a new tab and it doesnt jump to the end like in opera, no adblock, zooming in only does text not the images,

doesnt play nice with zoom. i.e i zoom 1 tab to 130% (30" dell, text is tiny) and if i open a new tab in there, the text on the new tab is also 130% normal. chrome goes back to defaults each time :(

tis fast though

I think I'll like it a lot after they get the kinks worked out - it is simple and very fast for me. I have noticed that even on pages that do keep their same look - the rendering just doesn't seem as 'sharp' as in Firefox. I went ahead and reported the differences.

And yeah, it doesn't play nice with zoom for me, either

Theres a lot I like about it, but its really rough around the edges.

Using the scroll wheel scrolls it pages instead of lines, and something as simple as smooth scrolling is absent.

The best thing FF ever had going for it was extensions, so if there is something you dont like, you can change it. Unless chrome offers extensions, itll never be a full time option for me. But on the other hand, it works way better than prism for web apps, so it'll stay installed for now.

I've got smooth scrolling. Perhaps check your mouse settings.

At any rate, I like it, but it's got some flaws, especially when you're used to firefox + adblock. Hopefully in the future

IE 8 also runs tabs in separate processes.

Maybe I'm an idiot but is there a one-click button to view my Bookmarks? The only way I see them is if I open a new tab then select them. I used to scroll to 'Bookmarks' toolbar at the top in Firefox and they dropped down.

EDIT: Nvm found it- Doh! I am loving this interface, very clean.

Yeah, thats something that also struck me - ads...hadnt seen those in a while.

But considering that its open source, I'm sure some very interesting things will come of it very, very soon.

Now that I use it more, I am wondering how many things have been taken from other browsers. The "speed dial" feature when you open a new tab. The look of the tab above the address bar. Being able to look at your bookmarks and history from the address bar. All these have been taken from other browsers and not really improved on. However, like I said in my first post in this thread, having the seperate threads per tab and the ability to see your memory usage is really cool/handy.

After using it for the better part of the night... I still like it, but most of my complaints are nitpicks.

For instance, the right click menu is horribly deficient. I typically send links in firefox by right clicking and going to send page. Also, it'd be nice to see a reload right click. Again, little things.

What I would really like, is if google incorporate what Microsoft sorta does with vista and IE7... press alt and get a full fledged menu bar, complete with a bookmark toolbar. I love the minimalist approach and it looks great, but at the same time I wish I could have all the full fledged options with a push of a button.

All in all, if google keeps developing this browser, it could be a decent third (or fourth if you consider opera) contender. I don't know if I would switch completely though.

I hate that it makes a DING sound whenever I press Alt-D to get to the address bar. Anyone know how to disable that?

Love it, but no mouse gestures is killing me. I didn't realize after using them for so many years how vital they are.

Also - no google toolbar? I've moved all my bookmarks to google so I can access them anywhere through the toolbar (and not have to worry about saving bookmarks when I format and such), but it's not an option to install it with chrome.

OK, tried it on a second computer at work. Still fast - and some pages still look like crap.

I was probably a little harsh on Google when I complained about how Ebay's page looks, though. Considering some of the butchery performed by Ebay's programmers lately, you can't really lay all the blame on Google

True, things have been taken from other browsers... Google doesn't deny that... see the last two pages of the comic that Google put out abt chrome...

Some new features are there... and you gotta give it to google for one helluva first day BETA.... I didnt expect it to work so good, I haven't run into one issue till now....
