Spotify > *

Buying, downloading and syncing MP3 is a thing of the past.

I agree entirely. I will say there is room for competitors though. Spotify's mobile application is severely lacking right now. Now option to sort library by Artist or Album. And most importantly, no way to play random order songs.

Other options include rdio and grooveshark. I think there is going to be a lot of competition in this area in the coming years.

Spotify's desktop application is fantastic though and the fact that they other developers to create apps for their interface is brilliant. I see good things for this company in the future and they get my $10 a month right now.

and I understand that if I pay them now, it will help them build a better app in the future. I'm really ok with that.

Do they have a feedback system?

Yeah, the mobile app is a tragedy. Seeing how there's been no meaningful update in months makes me wishful that they're doing a complete rewrite.

Just review the app on the App Store or Android Market. I think they know how bad their mobile apps blow.

I'm going over there next week for a meetup. Hoping to get a feel from some of the engineers on how they feel about the mobile apps (and maybe scope out job prospects).

The best streaming is google music by far. You can barely tell its streaming the way it caches. I don't buy on google music but I upload all my purchases to it.

Spotify mobile blows. Pandora sound quality is lacking and pops occasionally. Slacker randomly skips songs for no reason. Amazon takes a while to change songs.

I thought this was the whole point of having an Android phone? :D

no

Everyone I know who's involved in Android hacking (which is a lot, a lot lot or people) are all anti piracy. The devs bust their tails and deserve to be rewarded.

Iphone users however love their pirated apps. Matter of fact...isn't part of jailbreaking adding in the "store" with all the pirated apps?

I have my entire music collection, including rips of every CD I own, on Google Music. It's pretty amazing having everything available, all the time, for free.

I use Pandora occasionally for comedy or when I having someone else in the car and don't want to choose my own music.

I use amazon to buy everything, and google music for cloud storage. There's a desktop app that runs and syncs my library on google music, and I can use gMusic to stream to my ipad or iphone.

Oh and I tried to use spotify but their pay version is too expensive and the ads are some of the most obnoxious advertising I've ever experienced.

Is spotify free? I love that pandora no longer has a time limit or advertising on it's free accounts, I listen to it basically all day every day now.

i used spotify when it first hit the US and my biggest complaint was the mobile app was flaky with my car's USB so i cancelled after a few months

lately i'll use pandora or slacker in the car and the free spotify desktop client at work sometimes

if you're going to pay money spotify is the best with slacker a close second. only because on these you can cache to your device if you're on a limited data plan or your commute is outside of signal range like mine is

if i wanted to put my music library into the cloud i'd use itunes

my preference is grooveshark. good selection (too good to be true actually), and its advantage for me over spotify is browser playback. i do like spotify's offering tho.

pandoras fine, but sometimes i want to pick what i want to listen to.

i like google music too, have all my old CDs ripped and uploaded, grooveshark is better just bc of the selection (mostly everything compared to just my music in google).

i have purchased music from AMZ, they have reasonable deals. I used their cloud player briefly until google music came out. no complaints really. havent used the google music store. but i really havent been buying music since starting to use grooveshark.

actually, i do use google music on my phone and in the car (stream). bc im too cheap to pay for grooveshark or spotify mobile offerings

Fuck all those.
SoundCloud. Bandcamp.

I used Spotify until free time ran out. Then fuck that shit.
Many artists I follow regularly update SoundCloud with good stuff.
Then Bandcamp when am at a desktop, & run it through another website to scrobble listens to Last.FM.
Too bad they don't have app that scrobbles SoundCloud phone app to Last.FM though.

You can play songs in random order and pull up individual albums/artist.

I heard great things about Spotify but when I went to sign up it said "You must have a Facebook account to use Spotify" so I went back to Pandora.

Its not on your list and I'm fairly certain you don't have a Windows Phone or a ZuneHD, but the Zune Pass is by far the best streaming solution I've used, and I've used quite a few of them.

I use Zune Pass. It's really great it's like having the benefits of Pandora with the unlimited selection of Spotify.

Wait till the sites get taken down.. whoops. Think I'll keep my mp3s

I look at all the CDs I ever bought and all the MP3s I ever bought or pirated and I never want to listen to them again. I'd rather pay $10/month and have access to everything than buy a $10 album every month that I probably won't want listen to this time next year.

YMMV.

I just tried installing Spotify and you need Facebook? What about people who aren't interested in retarded social apps?
