why are americans so obsessed with sex offenders?

because they might ****** with your little kid or rape your wife? how stupid are you

so quick with the abusive personal comments! that indicates to me that you have
1) very low frustration tolerance, and
2) poor self control.

yay way to have no come back aidan....

He is a moron, who when he gets proven wrong, tries to say he took the high rode when all his posts tend to be condescending in tone and don't follow logical order of discussion. I personally just ignore him now.

is that why you just responded to me 4 or so posts up?

Hahaha, I p0wned myself. Didn't even notice who posted that one.

I work in one part of the Justice Court departments that deals a lot with these people, so I know a whole bunch more about this than most of you guys. 😉

There should be a child molester/rapist/predator database and not just list imo.

People obnoxiously freak out simply because they hear an offender is close, when it could just be a 19 year old who got busted having sex with a 17 year old 10 years ago. Far from a threat to anyone's kids.

uh, they're violent and dangerous criminals?

Can I play "Let's make a blanket statement against people I know nothing about" too??

When they are convicted in a court of law, that is not a blanket statement.

That's not true, there is something we know about them. We know they are convicted sex offenders. . .

Umm, yeah, there already is a database. It isn't hard to write a query to pull just the repeat offenders or the violent ones.

This has their pictures too. No wonder why most do not register.

you mean they actually have to register to be in this database?

Most of the dangerous offenders skip town and don't register in the other state they move to. Some just try to change addresses in the same city and test there luck.

If they don't register, they are reisking jailtime, but the dangerous ones don't care.

Which make it that much more of a joke that all sex offenders are always grouped together.

there's alot of sex offenders living near elementary schools here. wtf.

And gee, why do you suppose that is, eh? 😉

Fact is they were probably already living next to the school or parks prior to getting caught or registering. Then they probably just continued to live there afterward.

North Carolina isn't mapped? 😕

This is the first place I've seen people actually trying to take up for sex offenders. Sure, some of them might not be a threat (like JJSole's example) but the majority get their kicks from little kids, and that's sick! If you think this type of behavior is ok, then you're just as bad as any of the child molesters/rapists out there.

Because it is law to list all registered sex offenders. Change the law and make it so that someone can discriminate the two in court ($$$), and you will have that change.

They are not given the "choice" to register. They are required to register by order of the court I am sure.
