Not kidding. I can't give enough props, snaps, kudos, and kick backs, as well as hi-fives, and shout outs to google. Do you realize that before google all other search engines were sh*t? I charge you to load up lycos or any other equally useless search engine and try and search for something. The results you get back will be garbage. Never before has somebody with internet access had immediate and exceptionally accurate access to millions of pages of information. Gone are the times when search results are returned based upon what some clown put in his page's metatags.

If you had somebody with an infinite memory and they'd surfed the entire freaking internet and you asked them a question - to find you a particular page based on some information - they would give you the same results that google returns. Google is God. I am nothing!

I had luck with hotbot but agree that google rocks. I don't rely on "I'm feeling lucky" though 'cause I'm usually not.

Story of my life.

You thought it was ok before, just as I was slow to switch to google. I thought "yaye, another search engine. Who cares?", but I'm now a believer. Go and try and use altavista for something difficult and you won't find a damn thing! If it's anything more than "CNN" or "Porsche 911" - anything complex - you'll probably get pointed to porn or something.

This just shows you what all of those PhD's can do when they quit their teaching positions and get real jobs.

Google = My Homepage. I use it to go to every website I visit except for this forum basically. Keeps the Address bar nice and clean. ;)

I use Google enough that I downloaded the Google Toolbar. 1 less page to load to use the Google search :) Highly reccomended for all the google fans.

Google is good - however, it just depends on what you're looking for. I like Astalavista.com a lot, too! ;)

More tool bars actually frustrate me with the additional clutter. However, with Mozilla, you can define Google as your default search engine - allowing you to put your search terms in the URL window and then clicking the "Search" button. I've found this solution to be very effective, and clean - without any additional clutter. :)

So Skoorbie doesn't know about all of Google's cool tools, eh? :p

Check out these links.
Google Labs - This is effectively the "beta" of new features for Google. I just checked, and it doesnt seem to have been updated in a while, but they used to have some cool stuff there.

Google Catalogs - Search for mail order catalogs all at one place

Google Special Searches - Search for questions/answers about Operating Systems in a designated search.

My favorite search is the Image Search. It has been incredibly useful for my landscape architecture class and getting pictures for projects :)

Google was cool, until they started filtering their search content based on THEIR opinions on whether it should be shown to you. There are many examples of sites that don't come up in the searches, even when searched with their domain name. I like google, but at what point is it going to be THE search engine and lacking content that should be in it....
