Add 5ghz wifi and I'd almost agree with you. Except I wish there was to control it that doesn't involve your phone. That's where I think FireTV has the advantage.

I'm looking forward to the AppleTV announcement this fall. I think Apple will be able to counter GoogleTV platform just fine.

So basically, I think both Apple and Google have really brought it this year. I'm not likely to switch platforms but I keep Android stuff around all the time anyways so I'm really looking forward to it. I'll definitely replace my FireTV boxes with a GTV box if Apple doesn't update ATV this year.

Indeed, chromecast is the one reason I'm not using 5ghz universally on all devices right now. In fact, I'm using it on zero devices due to that.

Yeah, LG + Moto.

Everyone really wants the Moto though. That's the design that keeps me thinking the rumored "circle watch face" from Apple is going to wind up to be true.

I don't need no square watch.

So... no new nexus device announcements?

Will there be other presentations from goggle later on?

I have no desire to wear a smart watch! The fewer things on my body at one time, the better. The only feature that really grabs me is the "lost phone" feature that makes your phone beep loudly.

Huge disappointment! I thought they might slip the nexus 6 in there somewhere. Hey google, I can't wait much longer. I'll have an S5 in my pocket soon if I don't hear anything.

So... don't wear one? I myself will be getting one (Moto 360) because I find the technology interesting and useful, but I don't remember being forced to sign up for one. 😉

The only hardware announcement I was expecting that didn't happen was the new Nexus tablet. Oh well, not a biggie.

All in all Android L looks very nice, enough to pull me towards Nexus/GPE again, but for now I play the waiting game.

Nexus phones have been fall releases, not sure why you expected a new phone now.

I'm looking forward to this new version of Android solely for ART but I'm still not sure what the rationale for changing the navigation buttons was. A left-facing triangle to indicate "back" makes sense but a circle to represent "home" and a square to represent "recent apps" make no sense whatsoever...if anything I would have flipped the circle and square.

Possibly to assist in any iOS to Android transition?

I agree with the triangle and circle.

But yeah, the square doesn't really work for me either. I think they could have left that icon alone.

Yeah, don't hold your breath. It's a developer conference. This is basically the Google equivalent of WWDC.

Developers know what's up now so that when new devices get released running the new OS, they'll be ready for it.

New interface is... okay, I guess. Not sure what kind of extra power is needed for that, or, the other way around, if I could turn off the excessive animation, how many more hours I could get on my battery?

Chromecast mirroring is cool, Android apps on Chrome OS is *really* cool. Chrome Auto is nice although I probably wouldn't ever need it.

Other than that, I am pissed that they haven't given L a proper name yet. That's the one thing that I'm really looking forward to!

Oh and lulz at everybody and their neighbors copying WebOS card system 😀

Yeah, to be honest I *really* like my Chromecast and used it a lot, but ever since I got a FireTV on the same TV, I always ended up choosing to use the FireTV.

It doesn't look like the 'Android TV' that they just announced will be sold as a separate device, but instead incorporated into the Smart TVs. It's like a 'Smart TV engine' that's compatible with your Android devices.

Unless I fell asleep and missed something. That part was right when I felt so sleepy :\

You realize Matias designed both, right?

He said in an interview that after WebOS he signed up with Google because "this time, I want to win".

They mentioned stand-alone boxes. He specifically mentioned Asus and some other company that I forgot about.

You missed something. They announced the Android TV reference hardware will eventually be available.

Yeah, I basically use my CC for HBO Go and YouTube. HBO Go should be in the Amazon App Store soon and I'll just have to deal with the FireTV YT app.
