Google IO 2014

They were just talking about Android L UI enhancements. Oh my goodness, that was a very long way of saying "we are adding more shadows". Sounds like the flat look will be a bit less flat with more bolder colors and some shadows between elements.

I don't like tabs being in multitasking, and also I'm iffy on animations, I really hate animations.

But the new API's and such are really cool. Also, the new ART stuff is insanely awesome.

Is that the new Recents screen? Haven't we learned from Vista that the card stack view is pretty but ultimately less efficient?

It's effectively the same as the current recents screen.

No, it really isn't the same seeing as one shows you a larger portion of recent apps instead of devoting most of the screen the current app (requiring scrolling to see contents of actual recent apps). I dunno, maybe I'm getting the wrong impression from the screenshots.

Yah, but the current interface is just an utter waste of space. Lots of blank areas. Use it on a Nexus 10 and you will see that 2/3rd of your screen is wasted.

With that said I'd love for an OS X Expose-like display especially with 5+" phones having so much screen real estate.

chromecast just became the best set top box, again. or, it remained the best...depending on what you think.

Add 5ghz wifi and I'd almost agree with you. Except I wish there was to control it that doesn't involve your phone. That's where I think FireTV has the advantage.

I'm looking forward to the AppleTV announcement this fall. I think Apple will be able to counter GoogleTV platform just fine.

So basically, I think both Apple and Google have really brought it this year. I'm not likely to switch platforms but I keep Android stuff around all the time anyways so I'm really looking forward to it. I'll definitely replace my FireTV boxes with a GTV box if Apple doesn't update ATV this year.
