Google Instant?

I dont get it, I been using this google instant forever. Nothings new??

we always have had it eh? Like when you see those screenshots of funny things google completes the sentence with?

No. Now the search results are actually changing, not the search suggestions. You may not have it yet, it doesn't seem to have been totally rolled out yet. I think you also have to go to the search page to get it to work, it's not cooperating with search toolbars yet.

Mine is also getting stuck and not instant searching a lot on my crappy work computer with Chrome. Hopefully it's better on the fox at home.

Wow, just tried this out. It's pretty damn cool. If nothing looks different to you, make sure you're logged into a google account.

I noticed it first thing this morning. Very cool. I had no clue what was going on at first when the page changed then I was like "WHOA!"

I don't have it here yet, but every letter typed displays a new page of results?
Like was said in an earlier thread about this, I wonder how much unnecessary server load this will produce when it is fully rolled out.

We're talking about Google here...not some half-wit running a blog off of a cheap PC in his basement. I put all my money on Google already knowing exactly what effect this will have on their infrastructure, and being overly prepared for it.

Cool but what is the point of this?

If I'm typing a search query in 0.75 seconds, why would you needlessly fetch the results 3 times in the midst of that?

I want the balls back

Anyone know what that was all about anyhow?

It was kind of fun making them fly around. I noticed it didn't work right in Internet Explorer (a site I go to doesn't cooperate with Firefox, need LastPass so no Opera either, go figure it's a government website so shit is all sorts of fucked up), as all the balls stayed the same size. In Firefox, the balls got larger the further from center (like they were flying "up" toward you, really neat).

It's for the people who don't know how to computer I guess.

Before Google Instant, the typical searcher took more than 9 seconds to enter a search term, and we saw many examples of searches that took 30-90 seconds to type.
http://www.google.com/instant/

Went ahead and turned it off, instant doesn't seem to work well for me. I think part of that is because I have a pretty crappy internet connection, though, so the results take a second or two to update. Becomes rather annoying.

This is catered for people that don't know how to type. I just typed 4 random letters, CELP and the instant search came up with CELPH, while when I hit enter it came up with the searches it was supposed to: Code-Excited Linear Prediction.

IMO there needs to be http://www.l.old.google.com/
I just want to old 2002 web page back with the new search algorithms. There is too much scripting shit going on now.

useless. i don't remember the last time i've been to google.com to initiate a search. normally i use the search bar in the top right corner of my browser.
