google gsm galaxy nexus, $399 +tax/shipping, direct from google

not bad at all. even if its unsubsidized dont let that deter you.

even if i was on AT&T with no discount for bringing my own, you could always buy say an iphone , sell it on ebay , then pay for this with it.

but would ATT force data plan on you?
my ATT plan now is only voice and text. i hate to pay another 30 bux for data.

mobile data is not worth $30... yeesh that sucks. if i ever get booted off my sero plan i think ill probably just get a nice fast 4g connection and tether to it (and drop my cable internet).

really? $30 is not that much money given the level of connectivity you get with a smartphone.i pay like $75 a month for verizon and uh, its worth every cent .

You're not HIM. He doesn't need the "level of connectivity" as you.

Yes. As soon as they find out your have a smartphone they AUTOMATICALLY add it for you so you don't get inconvenienced from any paperwork or agreemnt. It's very nice of them to do that.

Not sure if things changed or not, but I had an iPhone 3G for a year (before the 4S came out) and never got charged for data.

and he's not me, but posts that a $30 data plan is some absurd amount in a thread about a $400 phone.

i don't get why people who don't need what they offer for $30 complaining about it. if you uh don't want to pay $30 , don't buy a smartphone that needs a $30 plan? a data plan isnt water, or air, or cancer drugs or something. total luxury, complaining about the price of luxury is lik eme complaining about the fact that ferraris cost a lot.

$30 bucks I think is no big deal, but what bothers me is the separation of Data and Texting Plan.

being forced onto a data plan should be illegal!
why should i have to pay for data when i dont use it?
this is a nice phone to carry photos, videos, documents, and maybe some games. its convenient to have just in case i get into a car accident and need to take photos/vids for insurance.
im currently using a dumb phone and often have to lug around the ipod touch, a camera, and a gps. all of this can easily be replaced by this awesome phone

Read the link i just posted. You don't need to be forced into one. You can use prepaid phone cards.
