FYI--they've had beta testers, aka "glassholes" testing this for over a year now.

I can't help but wonder whether the general public will actually use something this stupid. Knowing full well the same thing was probably said about cell phones and pocket watches.

Note those are for specialized jobs. A HUD/camera like glass can have many professional applications, but for casual every-day use? It's a $1500 helicopter beanie, given you can do everything it does and then some on your phone. Some rich people will buy it when it comes out, wear it for a few days, post some youtube videos, then turn it into a paper-weight once the novelty wears off.

I'd like to rent some just to check them out, but I don't think I have much legitimate use for them.

Honestly, I'm still kinda miffed about having my Glass Explorer application denied back in late 2012. I've done a lot of beta testing for Google in the past, and I felt like I got snubbed.

Besides, the "cool" factor just isn't there anymore a year later. Especially now that any clueless rich bastard with $1,500 can get one.

Maybe I'll think about getting the production version if it's below $500 and the reviews are good.

I guess this will make it easier to identify people that are going to mug you...
