Google Fiber coming to Austin (Texas)

If by "is" you mean "might be" and by "google fiber" you mean "something google-related"... then you're completely accurate. But as of right now, it's speculation until next week. So fix your god damn title.

The title is from the article...

They need to bring this to Philly so I can ditch Comcast.

LOL good luck with that one. I'm moving across the river to Jersey and the only game in town is Comcast unless I want 1Mbps DSL. It's ridiculous. FYI, parts of South Philly get Verizon FiOS.

damn I hope it is true and I hope they do Round Rock(suburb). It would be very upsetting for google fiber to be that close, yet so far away if they limited it to Austin.

What the speed will be and how much per month? I am stuck with ATT DSL and Cox cable. Both suck (speed and cost).

I hope they eventually come to Canada at some point though I'm not counting on it. Our internet infrastructure here is so behind compared to the states, where people already can get 100mb connections.

There is some speculation that we might be getting fiber to the house in my city though, but it's only speculation at this point, and it will probably take several years to roll out even if the speculation is true. I really hope it is true though. That would be awesome. Honestly I'd be happy with like 10meg up. It would be enough for me to be able to host my server stuff at home.

Yeah but I'm in the northeast part outside the city. Comcast owns so much of this area and parts of jersey that I dont think google will get over here. Fios is still not everywhere either most apartments won't have it because of the layout and how there aren't any Fios lines near all the suburb sections yet.
