I just got invited to the program and as soon as I signed up I had 5 invites. I didnt get in through someone else though, I signed up on the site awhile back

Where did you see if you have invites to send out? I've had this for months but never knew that I can send out invites. I logged in just to check and couldn't find it either.
 
On the left side of the screen under the section that has my domains, billing and transfer in. It isnt there now since I used mine though

Yeah those are the only three links I have there as well.

Maybe I'll try actually transferring a domain in and see if it changes. I wasn't interested at first because the price didn't seem to be cheaper than everywhere else. But just now I saw that they have free private registration, which is great!
 
are there any actual benefits to using google domain? free google apps?

otherwise I don't see any point in picking this over something like namesilo that offers domains for $8.99 with free privacy.

I want to integrate Google Apps, so that's why I was so excited. I haven't set anything up except my log on and I still need to verify my domain, but here are the options I have:
