I guarantee they will have some sort of adblock extension available, given that it is open source. I doubt google will be advertising or specifically encouraging the plugin but they will not interfere with it. The speed of the browser is basically the only reason I prefer it over Firefox right now, besides that they really are not that different.

The only thing that worries me is googles increasing monopoly over the internet, sure they aren't evil right now but if they ever become evil we would all be totally screwed.

Edit: I can't center click to scroll mouse either wtf that's annoying.

your evil-o-meter needs a tune up, its totally brokeded.

Constantly updating my hosts file and antivirus program makes my IE7 perfect for what I want to do. I dont do anything but browse and I have no problems with security or ads. What is the incentive for me to go with another browser?

I have FF on a second computer and I hate it for some reason. Can't think of any but I assume MS has subliminal messages on their programs.

Am I the only one who isn't all over google's knob? I don't really care for their search engine, Gmail is a PITA, and I freaking *hate* their software, especially google desktop. It seems to want to install from everywhere, it's like spyware, just gooping up PCs and slowing them down. Bleh.

At least compared to other companies out there google isn't evil. The last bad press they got was about people whining about not getting M&M's and water, hardly a crime against humanity. If history has taught us anything thing though google will turn evil or eventually or fall to competitors.

damn..really liking it so far. Definitely faster than FF. The one thing I like about it so far is it's simple.

Edit: It's more of a memory hog than FF is.

Was a fun ride but back to FF3 for now. Need my extensions. I think Chrome definitely has potential but it's going to take a few releases to get there.

I found the first thing that I don't like about it. It isn't refreshing my Yahoo stock quotes (runs as streaming quotes in IE/FF)!

Major, major downside. 🙁

doh, why is it doing this??

google calendar = magic. (esp w/ integration)
google desktop = configure it right. i dont use the sidebar. the search feature is fast as hell for me , good for searching docs and emails
google earth = brilliant

I'm not either, especially since it doesn't support Ubuntu, and the other Linux distros.

Hmm... I found an issue already. I can't use it for my remote management because they all use java. I take it there's no plug in for java for it yet?

I thought Java was one of the things that was supposed to be amazingly better?

You're thinking of JavaScript. Completely different.

I noticed this too (the lack of a Java plugin) and found this (it requires a beta version of Java: version 6, update 10). I haven't tried it to see if it resolves the issues, though.

I for one like Gmail and I really really like Google desktop. It is amazing at finding stuff in my desktop. I do a lot of coding so if I need to see a function definition, voila GD finds it for me. If I need to see an email where a case study was discussed or perhaps I need to find out just about anything in my email, files or whatever, GD doesn't let me down. Works like a charm on my linux desktop at home and finds any kind of content that I forgot where I put it. Sure I could use my magical linux command lines to find that info but Google Desktop is quick as heck.
