Google Chrome - any way to save windows and tabs?

A lot of times when I'm doing research I'll have a window open with a bunch of tabs dealing with, say, 3D design. Then another window with tabs dedicated to my work. Then another window with tabs dedicated to photo gear.

I want to be able to save these windows as "3D Design" "Work" and "Photo Gear" and re-open them at any time I choose, and update them automatically as I close tabs, open new ones, etc.

I want to be able to have a blank screen and say, "I want to do some work" so I will just load up the window that has all of my work tabs. When I have time to resume research on 3D design, I'll open that window and close the Work window, which has all the tabs saved anyway.

Right now I have to bookmark each tab and put the bookmarks under a folder, but that would mean I create a million bookmarks for all the tabs I have open and I have to constantly manually update bookmarks with new ones and old ones that I don't want.

Any solutions?

Perhaps Session Buddy might do the trick?

Nope, doesn't work.

The problem with Session Buddy is that it's not granular enough. It saves the entire session - all windows, all tabs, together. And then I can only restore the entire session.

I want to save just a single Window. Then close the window, and later re-open that specific window with all the previous tabs.

Not the entire session.

Maybe session manager? Says "Tabs and Windows"

Session Manager doesn't really have any options.

Anyway, I think I found a decent solution:

TabCloud

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/npecfdijgoblfcgagoijgmgejmcpnhof

1. It syncs with my google account so that I can access my saved windows from any computer. Not expected, but awesome.

2. There's a drop down menu with all of my saved windows. I can even name the windows and open only the windows that I want.

Cons:

1. I open a saved window and the proceed to open new tabs in the window. There doesn't seem to be a way to update the current saved window session with these new tabs...

2. There's no way to restore all the windows at once, just one by one.

I use fast dial for firefox. To do what you want I would just press CTRL+N and then right click on a folder on my fast dial and click open all. And there they are.

Might be a little time consuming, but you can right click on a tab in the window and select Bookmark all tabs... This will allow you to send them all to a folder and then reopen from there down the road.

Switch to FF. Keeps a record of your recently closed tabs, will reopen your whole session if you want (but you don't). You can also use FF profile manager for Work, Play, ect. Just set firefox.exe -p. It's an old Netscape feature (since FF is a descendent of Navigator) that is just great. I use it for a laptop that I have 1 user account created on, don't want to create more, but have more than 1 person who uses the FF.
Since sharing a web browser is like sharing clothes (or more intimate than that tbh).

You're encountering one of many reasons why I can't switch from FF.

Also Opera has great tab group features. Both Opera and FF are better than Chrome IMO. Chrome is too plain, especially for someone like yourself. Try out FF/Opera they were designed in the era when PC power users were running the tech scene. Chrome is meant for laymen.

Chrome does all of this too.
