The snes9x source code is published on the Internet, but large portions of it are licensed under terms that prohibit commercial use*. By selling SNESoid, Zhang might have fallen afoul of the snes9x license. It's worth noting that snes9x EX, a free Android port of the snes9x emulator, is still available in the Android Market and hasn't been kicked out by Google.

He took snes9x code, which is made freely available under a non-commercial license, and made a shitload of money selling it. Now he has the nerve to whine that his only source of income was taken away. He got exactly what he deserved.

I always wondered how he got by charging money for that app...

Google removing the emulators, but not the apps that search for ROMs and download them for you.

Makes sense.

And of course Apple will continue to get blamed for inconsistency while Google is conveniently overlooked by the phans.

You can get them at SlideME for now, although ZodTT and the developers don't get money through that 3rd party app store so I don't expect them to stay there.

Seriously there isn't a 3rd party AppStore on Phandroid that you can purchase apps a la Cydia?

GEEE I CAN TYPE IN ALL CAPS TOO WOW

Seriously, N64oid was the only N64 emulator so thats gone, and they also removed all of the PSX emulators. Granted there are still a few there but are they next? Time will tell. But its not like this one guy was the only one who got them taken down, it was also ZodTTD's apps which included his gps (game boy advance) and psx4droid emulators.

And Zhang wasn't just exploiting code to "make money" his app was superior to snes9x as it ran smoother and had more options in it for doing all kind of things. It was worth the money.
