I say... SO... Who cares what the image was. What happened to freedom of speech or images for that matter?

Not like I would care, or even want to look at such an image and maybe it's a bit racist ... But whatever floats your boat. I didn't hear about google taking down the Bush monkey pics. Remember typing in Miserable Failure and it would link to bush? Tho it was true, it was left in place for a really long time.

I dunno, what gives with the special treatment? Censorship at it's finest? What's next?

Sometimes I really wonder when we will start flying the China flag. Maybe we are slowly adjusting the thinking around here.

Good times.
Just gets people more fed up with what is going on.

I'm happy with whats going on! Wealth redistribution to the lowest in our society, undermining quality healthcare with a "Toothbrush for all", unprecedented levels of spending, take of huge tax increases, waffling on wars and not committing to win....The list goes on and on.

What could one possibly be upset about??

How is it censorship? They didn't remove it, they just added an apology/explanation so that people would understand Google doesn't endorse everything a person comes across in its search results (which people should know anyway).

Edit: They didn't remove its second appearance, that is. The first was apparently removed for some sort of malware violation.

Maybe Obama should make a god damn decision already.

This country has it's head up it's ass. It isn't a racist pic. It comes from celebritychimps. It's a site that has been making famous people look like monkeys forever. The kneejerk reaction is that it was designed to be racist And the press didn't bother to find out what the origin was. They just jumped onto the racist angst bandwagon.

Idiots.

mmmmm mmmmm mmmmm Barrack Hussein Obama

The wookie looks like a wookie, so what? Nice double standards we have which are by very definition racism.

It's not a double standard. Attend an ethnic studies course and get it over with already.

WTF is an "ethnic studies" class? One lead by a racist black professor about how bad whitey is and how down trodden the black man is and how he's reduced to nothing more than a monkey in the eyes of society (which he is a part of).

Fuck that. No double standards. End racism and end double standards. We are all equal and we are all Americans.

No apology for George Bush monkey image search pics:

Nice double standards in this country.

uh. the OP is about a search for 'michelle obama,' not 'michelle obama monkey.' what the fuck were you expecting to come up when you searched for 'george bush monkey,' genius?

google apologized because people who were NOT searching for demeaning photoshops were getting that picture first, probably as a result of somebody google bombing it. as someone said earlier, they could or could not have apologized, i could care less either way. but at least use some basic deductive reasoning before you post, kthx.

The fact that you've never heard of an ethic studies class pretty much says it all. You don't know the history of racism in this country so why are you pretending you know anything about the history of blacks being portrayed as monkeys? It's not crazy to think it's racism in this country (though I don't think it's the case in this particular case). It's a different story in other countries, of course.

We should be allowed to use pics in our sigs for this very reason. That pic makes a great conversation piece.
