been taking advantage of the Freedom 5% cash back for Android pay and found it to be kind of inconvenient.

i hold my phone to the reader while holding my finger to the reader which launches the app, but it will always have some error so I need to lift it off the reader then put it back for it to work.

has this been others experience or is it just my phone (honor 8)? really is kind of annoying, will just use the card directly once the promo ends.

haven't use apple pay in a while, but last time I did it was pretty seemless, just good the phone up with finger on the reader and it works.

I have a pixel 2 xl. I just unlock my phone and place it next to the reader. As long as nfc is on it should open up Android pay. Although Android pay is now named something else after google updated it. I've only used it a few times. Haven't found many point of sales systems where i shop that accept Android pay.

I just fingerprint unlock and then tap my phone. I've used Google Pay with several phones and it's always like that.

I use Samsung Pay on my S8+ and previously used Android Pay (now Google Pay) with my Nexus 6P. Works flawlessly every time, so I have to say it's your phone. I try to use Samsung Pay because of the rewards program (and yes, the additional Chase Freedom 5% offer this quarter is nice!)

Google Pay with Pixel 2XL works every time, no issues. I keep my finger on the fingerprint sensor while I tap to pay, hold it there until the check appears, and I'm done. Never had problems.

You need to know where your phone's NFC chip is to make sure the actual tap goes smooth, and I like to hold it there until the check appears on my screen.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was your phone. Could also be the stores you're trying it at, although that's been far less of an issue in the last couple years as compared to the N5 days.
