google and internet explorer question

there was a google topic that was posted in hot deals a long time ago about a google hack of some sort.

basically, you type in the url box of internet explorer your topic you wanted to search for in google, and google would display the results in the same window.

there was no need to type any prefix in the topic, nor did you have to hit the search bar to type in the search.

i did a search for it here, but the only thing that came up was the google toolbar and the search bar setting to make google the default search engine for internet explorer.

does anyone know how to do this so called hack?

thanks.

i currently have my computer at home to do as mentioned above without any toolbars or prefixes,
i.e. "g <searchstring>"

i want to duplicate it at my computer at work but can't find the solution. i also want to reformat my computer at home, but i am hesitating because if i do, i won't have that nice function anymore.

i hope somebody out there knows about this solution(no prefixes, no toolbars), as it was posted in this forum.

thanks to all who replied.

mozilla does it (or any other search engine) with no hacking :)
