You have proof Clinton maliciously shut down the Super collider? And for what reason exactly. It wasn't like Texas was going to vote Democrat.

By all means give us some evidence

Here's a little for you:

"Clinton explained that the canceled project was the result of a political compromise. T here was a bill that had to be passed that had bipartisan support if he zeroed out the particle accelerator. So, Clinton killed the project."

That's pretty clearly stating that he did it because of the wishes of Congress, not as some sort of payback.

And politicians always publicly announce payback, right? Our reps came back from D.C. and told us it was a very special "fuck you" from Clinton.

How much time have you spent in DC? I've put in about a month so far.

So to be clear your proof that Clinton did it as a form of payback is a story that said he did it to appease Congress? It's especially interesting that you are perfectly happy to assume that Clinton was lying about the cause but haven't considered that your reps were lying about the cause.

Baffling.

http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-trump-google-idUSKBN1430G6?il=0

'Only 33 employees of Google and its parent company Alphabet donated $201 or more to Trump, for a total of $23,300. Clinton received donations from 1,359 Google or Alphabet employees for a total of $1.6 million. "

Looks like Google's got some major sucking up to do. Am hoping for leaks of the content of the meeting today. I suspect he's going to blast them like he did the media.

why should he blast them? For not donating to him?

why should he do this?

"The smartest guys in the room" will figure out how to become invaluable to the new admin. They did royally fuck up though. Had they done their homework, they would have realized that the same party has won after holding the presidency twice only 3 times, and they should have covered their bet.

You think Trump has some kind of leverage over Google?

GL with that.

Did you not read the thread? He has no direct leverage, but he definitely has leverage. They (google) want to be on the forefront of technology and having a seat at the big boy table for government/policy/technology discussions is invaluable for that. It allows you to drive the discussion as well as gain insight into where things might head from a legislative / regulatory perspective. Guys like Schmidt and Larry Page are not dumb, they understand the potential problem position google finds itself in and are quickly taking steps to try to address it. I believe Page, Bezos, Sandberg, Musk and Cook met with Trump today, in fact. Trust me, as much as they hate Trump, they know they absolutely don't want to be left off the big boy list. Otherwise they would have just said "go pound sand" when he called a meeting with them.

Nah, I guess you're right. No leverage at all.

Christ, do you even think before you post?

You think a US president acting unilaterally against the world's primary "internet company" is something that the US president can actually do?

Like I said: GL with that.

Question: Are you one of those guys bitching about Miladakoukulous troll getting banned from Twitter and having his "freedom of speech!" squashed?

That's not what I'm responding to. I agree with this, but I'm responding to the suggestion that the US president--specifically Trump--can somehow threaten a company like Google over one of his patented hissy fit safespace intrusions, much less over the fact that they didn't give him "enough money for his campaign!"

Or, well, as if he can threaten them anyway.

LoL--remember when you guys denied you loved Trump for his racism and misogyny, and that it was really his anti-corporate, self-funding, "doing it my own way" "incorruptible" message? I guess that has already died away, because now you guys are pulling the petty vengeance card. Waaaa! Companies didn't give him enough money! Waaaa! MAKE THEM PAY, DONALD!

typical.

I think he dislikes Pence about 1,000 times more. If I was gay, I'd have a difficult time taking a meeting with him in the room.

True, but this also carries over to Thiel. He's....not popular in the gay community.
