Lets make a political statement by rigging up something that looks like a bomb and send it through the bomb detection machine at the airport.

This is the note they taped to their device:

"To the uniformed puppet opening this bag -- congratulations. You've just brought this once free nation one step closer to becoming a fascist police state,"

While normally there's nothing wrong (well, most of the time) with making political statements, given our history of "freedom of speech" and all, but this is just plain stupid. Blaming the airport screener? That's like blaming fires on the fire department, or crime on the police.

Too bad the goofballs didn't get tackled, had their necks stepped on, had guns pointed at their heads, and then get cavity searched by Big Bruno.

Stupidity should be punished.

Although I understand the couples worries on the loss of some of our civil liberties, there are more productive ways of bringing your political statement to the publics attention. These two are of the same "ilk" as those who think that creating a human chain across a major highway at rush hour is a productive way to get your statement across to John Q. Public.

The word "trouble-maker" comes to mind.

No. Anybody stupid enough to carry a bomb (fake or not) at the airport deserves to have the full force of the law beat the tar out of him/her.

There's a huge difference between a "fascist police state" and a state that's just trying to keep its citizens alive.

On the bright side, it's nice to know that security is doing their job. At least in this instance.

Thats a good idea, then they can get first hand experience at what a terrorist is treated like. Spend a nice day or two in jail.

Its good that they did catch. The should throw the book at these people. It likes screaming fire in a crowded theater. Throw um in jail for a couple of years to show how serious we are about dumbsh!ts like this.
