Goodbye Uncle

Last week, it was discovered that my uncle had Stage 4 colorectal cancer and probably didn't have long to live.

He passed away this morning at the age of 57

Be sure to get yearly check-ups yourself. One colonoscopy a year may not be fun, but detecting the cancer before it goes metastatic is quite helpful. Lost an uncle of a mere 40ish years to that only a few years ago. I'm already looking forward to those exams...

Sorry for your lose. I'm Going in for my second screening in three months since they found so many polyps that they couldn't remove them all in time. Looks like non of them were cancerous but this shit is still scary.

I'm only 30 btw.

Sorry for the loss. The guy I used to work for that I loved like a brother had colorectal cancer. Luckily they were able to remove a foot of his intestine and get rid of it.

Yearly? It's generally recommended to have one every 10 years after age 50 or every 5 years after 40 with a family history of cancer or other risk factors.

Colon cancer is slow to metastasize and relatively easy to take care of but the screening process is certainly unpleasant.
