I hate those damn games, my parents divorced because of evercrack. If my boyfriend was playing any those games I would break up with him, after alot of warnings, but I would. It sounds strange to blame a game for so much but I seriously think those types of games can ruin people (for a period of time) and their relationships.

So from a girl's perspective: those things are a complete turn-off.

Addiction = teh bad!

Divorcing over a video game is f!cked up.

I think the biggest downer with an MMORPG is the fact that you invest so much time in developing a fictional character when you COULD be devoting that time to developing YOUR own Real Life skills.....this is why I quit EQ the first time after about a week........

............ now I'm addicted to WoW...... GO FIGURE!!!!

My wife has an account and likes the game but refuses to play without me too. So at least there is an understanding from my significant other.

But WoW over SEX!?! Not on your LIFE! Screw that instance man!

Edit:

Thought I'd tack in that I was in the middle of Dire Maul with friends and my wife comes up and starts bugging me in a good way..... Funny cuz my char instantly stopped doing ANYTHING! Poor mates.

I like how idiots can't control their playing time and have to force themselves to "quit". Like it's some sort of super drug... self-control people.

Remember that the euphoria you're now feeling will in time be changed with nostalgia. It's not hard after a week, or two weeks. It's hard after two months, then six. The six month mark is the truly hard mark.

I warned you didn't I? MMORPGs are similar to cocaine or nicotine in their effects on you. WHen you first quit you feel a certain euphoria, but it goes away. Eventually the duldrums of regular life crush you and you yearn for the nostaligic escapism of the game. You're currently in the hardest phase of it...you need to break away. Once the lust to return peaks, it will slowly fade over time. But, it's always going to be there. You'll have to live with it for years to come. Just don't fall off the horse.

Last night I dreamt about playing.... and all day today I've been playing the justify to myself game... I mean whats so bad about a little gaming... no big deal. I mean I'm a grown man... if I want to play a game I should be able to. So what if I lose some friends... and my fiancee gets mad... they should respect my wishes...
I've been working hard... I deserve to escape for a little while.... It wont be so bad... I wont play too much...

AGH it's killing me... I WANT TO PLAY... and the install disks are there staring at me....

I WANT TO PLAY!!!

why play a game where you invent a person and then give him a job and make him interact with people when you can just go out and get a real job and make real money and interact with real people?

because in real life, i can't kill people/animals, loot all their belongings, skin them and make nice boots.

I've played CS for over 3 years and just now I'm starting to get a little bored with it. I got over 11,000 kills in about 3 months (don't play as much now) but that's how much it controlled me.

I even played it last night! 4/28/02 > present. Hopefully BF2 will break the habbit :p
