Streaming is very good from where it was even 2 years ago. We are going to have streaming atmos 4k so whatever.

Considering two BRs has as much data as my entire monthly bandwidth cap at home. And one DVD has twice what my cell phone has. I doubt I'll be streaming much truly high quality content. Especially considering a digital copy is usually more expensive than a physical copy.

I have no idea why you think people shouldn't own their own discs. Except that you are just a corporatist shrill. Although those corporations don't seem to mind selling physical media.

well sucks to be you. I have 200mb down and 20mb up for $50. unlimited.

I have no problem with people owning disks. I have a problem with people copying and then torrenting those disks. It happens.

I agree, streaming has come a long way. It still isn't as good as BluRay however. Add to that the fact that many cable companies are starting to implement data caps and it isn't much of a solution. Higher quality streams require more bandwidth which is going to become a much more costly option if that is your primary source of high quality video. It is a non starter for most people on mobile for even more restrictive bandwidth reasons.

I don't really understand your objection to people ripping their own discs honestly. That is pretty much the definition of fair use as far as I am concerned.

The data cap is a separate issue and is total bullshit.

Good for you, douche. Meanwhile, I actually support the movie industry by, gasp, buying their movies. But when it is easier to pirate than use legitimately purchased media, people will pirate instead. It isn't that hard to figure out.

its cheaper to pirate then to buy media. That is the problem and the reason why all of you have these "demands".

People in 1979 didnt demand an lp cost X. Because they had no power to get the product for free. Now that people have been empowered to take what they want they demand content creators give them what they want at whatever price they want (close to free).

Seems odd they would voluntarily close. I guess it was a precaution in case they get sued. It's retarded how that even works. You don't see gun companies getting sued because people use guns for murder. The maker of a tool should not be punished for how others use it.

They should just GPL it and hope someone picks it up. Never used it myself but it sounds like it was a nice software.

It is not just pirates who add price constraints. Netflix and Amazon making a lot of new content that can be accessed by a flat monthly fee is changing consumer expectations.

And yet most consumers today LIKE that Napster existed, even if they didn't use it, because the end result from that fallout was $10 a month unlimited Spotify. The world moves on despite their cut in profits.

And that content is paid for. Do you think they are losing money making that content? Lol. Do you think because netflix and amazon are making content at a certain budget that you should get all content regardless of budget?

Lol. The music industry was destroyed. That's finished. If you want to see the future of $10 a month unlimited movies go watch a movie called puffy chair because that's all you will get aside from more mindless superhero movies for the giant cinerama that are chocked full of advert placements.

2 guys can spend 6 months making a album in their basement with 20k in gear. Go look at 20k movies and tell me what you think.

Go watch primer. That's a fucking great movie but you will not find a carpenter willing to build a set for a film for no money because the zeroes want everything for free.

Do you have a problem with my copying my CDs and putting them on my MP3 player too? The only difference is DMCA.

Where are AnyDVD HD users demanding a particular MSRP for a movie or other IP? Shifting the goal posts.

Just like video games or music or food and other necessities, I buy it if it is available at a price that I value more than the money.

I have a problem with people making 1:1 copies of content and sharing it.

...and yet YOU want to characterize our dissatisfaction with the product/company no longer being available as a useless whining?
Well "boo hoo" to what you want as well. I rip all me CDs as lossless 1:1 copies. Suck on it.

AnyDVD HD simply enables us to treat movies with the same flexibility we have with CDs. Sure, my ability to encode a lossless rip of a CD also means that I can give you a 1:1 copy, but is that why I shouldn't be allowed to rip it to FLAC and play it on my phone? Do you honestly think that most people are using iTunes CD ripping to steal music?! Laughable, really.

The difference is if you don't want to buy it you can download it and consume it for free. You can't do that with food.

People in this very thread have been demanding a certain price. Or at least "$15 is too much" lol. As if all content is made by 3 companies and they can totally just wave their hands and give everybody everything.

Where did you get the idea that people were using AnyDVD HD to share movies? It's much less trouble for BOTH parties to just download it. :colbert:

AnyDVD HD is a tool with far more legitimate users than illegitimate users. You complaint is ludicrous and is akin to complaining about iTunes or Windows Media Player having CD rip functionality. Even the 1:1 thing is a big eye-roller because most people are re-encoding with Handbrake OR tossing out the stuff they don't want in favor of MKV files that just have their preferred streams (still not 1:1 even if it's not re-encoded). Even an ISO on a Plex server should not concern you any more than an ALAC file in an iTunes library.

The difference is if you don't want to buy it you can download it and consume it for free. You can't do that with food.

Even more BS. Those people are the ones trying to justify downloading it or advocating online streaming over physical/local media, not the ones legitimately using AnyDVD HD. Getting your wires crossed here.

That's kind of the way the market works you know? I'm not demanding a certain price, I just wait until things are a price I am willing to pay. Same goes for CPUs, video cards, etc. For some movies that price might be $25, for others it might be $1.99. But, once I get that movie I still want to be able to rip it so I can stream it. Same as when I buy a CD and rip it so I can listen on my phone.

Nobody is using anydvd to share. They are using it to make shareable copies. And they did so by decrypting a bluray. Overcoming its copy protection. Most blurays allow for a drm copy of the film to be on your computer. What's the problem? The drm is the problem isn't it? And that's a problem because people want to share it how they want.

So, I guess you totally supported Sony's root kit copy protections on CDs, eh? And: No. We are not creating them "to share." I can share in the same way I could lend a physical copy, but that would not be indiscriminate, which is why the Napster case lost despite Home Recording Act. Private viewing with friends, family, and acquaintances is 100% legal. The ONLY part that isn't is what was made illegal by the DMCA. DVD predates DMCA, you know. I was a very early adopter.

Well somebody is as you can go to any torrent site and get bluray copies.

With your bluray you get a copy to put on a computer. What's the problem?

No problem at all because I PAID FOR THE BLURAY. Not sure why you have a problem.

Yeah you paid for a bluray. Let that sink in. You paid for a bluray. That bluray comes with a digital copy. That bluray is a physical item. You didn't buy a film print did you? No.
