The only thing that iOS had above android before 4.0 was a fully GPU accelerated UI.

Functionality was miles past iOS since Donut.

This is very true. My one coworker today actually commented on how they just found out they can set one of their songs as a ringtone in iOS instead of buying them. They've been using an iPhone since the 3G came out.

I've had that functionality with Android since 1.6. >_>

That and the fact that it was actually stable and consistent.

I think you're falling into the same trap again. It's not about GPU acceleration per se. It's about UI design choices and ensuring that the OS feel is good and consistent, and doesn't have weird glitches etc. Sure a better feel can be from GPU acceleration, but end users really should haven't to care about stuff like that.

Even in 4.x, Android is pretty inconsistent in its UI, with inconsistent menu locations and a back key that is very inconsistent in functionality. However, the consistency was worse before 4.0.

Consistency was not a major issue. Never in my Android using days from Donut have I ever felt that consistency was an issue. Also, Gingerbread was rock solid stable.

Instability only came when you were rocking alpha custom kernels or doing weird build.prop edits or doing massive overclocks.

I was always busy actually knowing how to use my phone and if I don't know how to do something and figure it out later maybe because something didn't work quite like i expected it to? Well awesome, I remember it and stop caring. The UI is great for what Android can do, which is customizing every single thing you want, and supplementing the functionality.

And weird glitches and slowdowns are a part of every single OS ever. See every iPhone thats not the iPhone 5 running their latest updates.
Its almost pathetic. How slow the things are.

The G1 ran gingerbread better than an IP3 running iOS3.

For the canadians in here on Rogers and Telus.

There is a new OS update released today.

10.0.10.85

I just installed it has a few bug fixes and for those that use gmail accounts they seemed to fix the syncing issue and multiple calenders enjoy.

I also noticed when going into the settings menu you know longer get that split second delay with a white screen screen before the menu opens.

Someone also suggested battery life has doubled but I need to test that myself.

They also fixed bedside mode regarding getting phone calls.

Ah yes I didn't list that one there were many fixes.

Battery life has improved which i've been testing since last night its noticeable.

What's new from these updates:

Text message app jumps to text messages and not just the HUB
Voicemail notification has been fixed.
Settings screen is very quick to appear when clicked.
Rotation is a lot quicker and screen seems sharper.
Editing circle is optimized.
Delay after hitting SEND for SMS has been fixed. (Finally! Thank god...I'm a spammer)
BBM bubbles are smaller and text is smaller on hub. (?)

Screen brighter (?)
Keyboard is smoother (?)
Word substitution with option to turn on and off works now.
Calendar time-picker crash fix
Contact emoticon fix
Sent items timestamp bugfix

The two big things that are fixed:
Low light photos - much better now!
Battery life - I was expecting to read that this was just a little better. I don't know what they did but people say it is a huge improvement.

EDIT: Just saw your complete list ;-)

Battery life has improved a ton.

I fully charged my phone friday morning and it hasn't been plugged since and its now sunday i'm still at 50% battery!

Goddamn Bell... no update for me.

From what i've seen Bell is going to release it on March 7th. Yes they are slow!!!

One trick people are doing but only works if you have an unlocked Z10 is to grab a Rogers Microsim put it in download the update then go back to your bell sim.

Makaveli,

What have you been doing with the phone over the past two days to only drain 50%?

Sounds like Verizon is starting training this week!

Imp,

Straight answer is no. Having said that .....

There are reports that Verizon is training employees this week.

I'd guess (hope) that it is about 3 weeks out so Feb 22 maybe?

But as BBRY has said all along, it will release in Q1, 2013. There have been recent twitter and facebook messages from BBRY and Verizon that seem to verify this. So it will be this month.

Mid to late March is all we really know at this point.

My guess is they wanted to get the OS update installed on the phones, so they are updating them all now and will ship to the stores when they can.

I did hear that OS 10.1 is coming out mid-March.

It wasn't heavy usage.

So yes if I was playing games and such it would have gone faster but I was home all weekend so it was on my wifi and not searching for a signal.

However when doing the same thing before the patch I would have had to charge it atleast once in the same time frame.

After I charge cycle'd the battery when I first got it I was doing 8-10hours now after the patch i'm in the 12-16 hour range.

And this obviously depends on usage. I'm not someone that plays a ton of games on my phone and i live in Mississauga and work in toronto which has good LTE coverage, so the phone isn't often switching connection types which will drain battery.

Someone at Crackberry that works for Verizon read some documentation saying that pre-order is March 21 and release is march 28.

That's kinda strange seeing how training for Verizon started last week according to some reports. But training is certainly happening this week and next. So training will take till mid-March.

Alot of people that are trained in it are surprised by how good the phone is.

BBRY cant do anything right, why in hell would they release the phone out anytime near the gs4 launch?people will forget about it and the phone should of hit us stores last month before the hype came for the gs4.

Ill bet you anything people will not even look at the bbry with the new gs4 commercials all over the tv and with the hype and market share Samsung has I don't think there timing is right, not even apple would drop a new cell right now as anyone going to buy a new phone will be drawn to the gs4 from all the buzz the gs3 still has.

Believe it or not, there are plenty of people who don't like Android and won't buy one. BB will never sell as much as iOS or Android, BBOS appeals to a different segment. And I'd gather a lot of the people who are interested in the Z10 wouldn't be too keen on the GS4. I just bought an older BB device because Android sucks to me and I got bored of iOS for the time being.

I was one of those people who didn't want an android phone nor an iPhone but since blackberry took so long to come out with the z10 I ended up with an android phone since my provider didn't even have a nice windows phone option as an alternative.

see that's the problem with there marketing timing, what if that john doe walks into a store and sees the z10 and gs4 side by side and the hype the gs4 has along with the workers that will most def push sales over the z10.

I had a bb and so did all of my friends,we all left and never looked back.I actually laughed a few weeks ago as one of my friends status on fb was I think Im the last person in the world that is still using his BB and has not got a BBM in over a year lol the next few days he posted pics of his iphone 5
