i can't imagine it would be that much faster than the 9700. especially if it has less memory bandwidth (though with everyone and their mother going to 256 nvidia isn't going to have 128 bit like the second poster speculated. ddr II is mostly just a signalling change to allow the memory to run even higher). since it most likely will have a faster memory clock, the question becomes how hard would it be for ati to release a 9700 with a higher clock rate (looks like its easily achieved) and faster memory? given the overclockability of the 9700 ati may be running it at the speed it is because of power draw reasons (even with the floppy connector if an OEM is putting a p4 2.8 in with that thing its going to be hard on the 250 watt PS its teamed with)

Don't forget that ATi has something to release around the time of the NV30.

Remember the overclock to 400mhz, imagine what can happen with some small core changes.

everything cool but...where are the games? no games for gf3/4
 
when nvidia does a press release stating that these are the numbers and when nvidia provides real benchmarks then we will have something concrete to speculate on😉

What I keep wondering with NV30 is NVIDIA's track record for announcing vs. shipping. When is nForce2 going to be available again? When will the NV30 product be announced?
 
Why is it that you people continue to post speculations that websites post top get more hits to their sites and more money form their ad companies? Just wait until Nvidia gives a release opf their numbers and their specs for sure. and even so specs arent everythign.. matrox....
 
While those rumoured specs certainly look impressive let's not forget that they're just that - rumours.

OTOH a Radeon 9700 is shipping now and producing awesome framerate scores.

I wouldn't be so sure as the 0.13 um R350 should be a killer card as well.
 
Sure the NV30 will beat the 9700 Pro........... but I want to see the 0.13 parts (NV30 VS R350).............. you have to compare equivelent parts to each other 😀

Anyways, the NV30 is NOT out right now...who knows when? At what price? Knowing NVidia it will be considerably more than the ATI 9700 debuted price wise...think about it, even the Ti4600's are not really that cheap at all, heck they didn't really even drop in price to make it worth not spending the extra $50-$75 US for the ATI 9700! Plus the ATI 9700 is up to 75% faster! Shows how hard NVidia is trying to compete, why are the Ti4600's still so expensive? I smell another Voodoo here...remember? The Voodoo cards were mega $$$ while NVidia was releasing the TNT2's that were almost as fast if not faster than the Voodoo cards. Here now ATI releases a card that is WAY faster than the Ti4600, then prices it just a bit above a Ti4600. What does NVidia do about it? Drops the prices a piddly $75 and expects you to buy...or what, wait for the NV30 whenever that comes out, and when it does, what will it cost? Why wait? ATI kicks ass NOW.

P.S. I'm sure NVidia won't be another Voodoo, since the specs of the NV30 will be enough to easily compete...but they had better drop them prices RIGHT now on the Ti4xxx line or they will regret that I'm sure...

I've had one for a few days to mess around with. Giants is broken. Not the end of the world I guess. Hell I've played the stupid thing for over a year and still haven't found a smartie. (except around halloween...mmmm smarties!) 😛

If I remember correctly, that chart that compares features of R300 and NV30 is incorrect. And comparing unannounced product that is months away to a product that is available right now? Oh please...

THe 9700 is starting to come out now.......... the NV 30 will be out December at it if the consumer is lucky.
