Don't underestimate Nintendo's cheapness. I mean it very likely uses Samsung 8 nm.
Building the Switch 2 SoC on TSMC 4N will not improve the games in any way. At best it would give better battery life, but probably not so much as to be worth the added cost to use the node.
Performance would definitely be better in portable mode.
Foldable phones often cost over $1k . . . sometimes closer to $2k.vs. $500 Mario Kart bundle? meh
I never understood why people think foldable screen is viable.
American gamers eager to place orders for the widely anticipated new Nintendo console will have to wait a bit longer. They have tariffs to blame.
Nintendo has announced that preorders for its new Switch 2 gaming console will not begin on April 9 in the US as previously planned while the company assesses “the potential impact of tariffs.”
“Pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 in the U.S. will not start April 9, 2025 in order to assess the potential impact of tariffs and evolving market conditions,” Nintendo said in a statement. “Nintendo will update timing at a later date. The launch date of June 5, 2025 is unchanged.”
Nintendo announced the Switch 2 on Wednesday, just before President Donald Trump introduced a slew of tariffs on foreign goods, which heavily target Asia, where many tech supply chains are based — including Nintendo’s.
The Switch is the world’s third-bestselling console and Nintendo’s second-biggest seller.
I can't describe how soul-crushing it was to go through so many failed revisions. After the 3rd failure, I was hopeful every subsequent version would be successful, but they weren't. And when you do fail, you are looking at a minimum of 2 weeks to try again.
