Mario is very fun I'm making my way through it nicely. I'm gonna try Zelda now so I don't get too bored. Its a a neat little system. I'll probably also end up playing it in bed if I can connect my Bluetooth headphones to it.
That's what I did, played Mario first, then figured I'd give Zelda a try... Zelda was the only Switch game I played from late December until 2-3 weeks ago (no idea on hours played, but "a lot" is probably accurate). Mario is extremely well produced, but for me, Zelda is a much better game. I expect I'll probably have finished playing all the Mario I care to play within a couple weeks (not really into continuing to play games just to collect all the things).

You can't connect bluetooth headphones to the Switch, which is pretty fucking stupid in this day and age. Pisses me off too because I have to bring an extra pair of headphones on flights just for Switch.

I realized you cant connect Bluetooth headphones which I agree is dumb right now. I have a pair of cheap skull candy headphones I use sometimes while I'm home.

Also thinking of getting donkey Kong tropical freeze when it comes out, miss the donkey Kong games. I downloaded a Kirby all stars demo so I'll try that too.

I guess the next big game I would want to try is Metroid when that comes out.

You can see how long you've played many games if you tap on your avatar in the upper right corner of the home screen. I say "many" games because for some reason it shows when you "last played" some of them instead of "played for."

Have any of you tried any 3.5mm Bluetooth adapters with the Switch? They all seem to be a little bulkier than I'd like, so just wondering if they work at all.

Edit: Might be upper left.

I don't see why they would not work. My roommate has one hooked into the aux of his car and it does fine.

Yeah I'm not getting a bluetooth adapter, that would just add unnecessary bulk. If I was using headphones while docked I wouldn't care but I only use headphones in portable mode. And it already has bluetooth in it so I don't get why they have not added software to make it work with headphones in a year+ that it's been out.

That's strange that it has it built inside. I thought it did not. I wonder if there is a way to access developer mode on it and maybe enable it..the OS seems simple enough.

So, I finally got around to trying the Octopath Traveler demo yesterday, and the first thing that came to mind... "Sweet mother of God, this dub is so bad." The performances from the English voice actors felt incredibly phoned in, and consequently, I changed it to Japanese as soon as I could access the menu. I'll be honest in that the Japanese is better, but it still could use some work. (I think it's more presentation than the actual vocal work.) Although, what makes it even more awkward is that the game takes the Yakuza approach to dialog. That is where the game wants to use spoken dialog for a character, but they don't want to record every line, so they use generic shortened clips that match the general idea of the text. So, if someone said something like, "I think that's a good idea.", the sound clip would probably just be "hai!" (the Japanese word for confirmation typically translated as "yes"). I really didn't care for the short vocal responses in Yakuza 0 when I started playing it, and it's still awkward here.

...at least the gameplay is fine!

I'm thinking about getting donkey kong tomorrow. I know it's the same game as the Wii u but since I'm new to Nintendo I figured its something insued to play when I was a kid. Mario +rabbids also looks good but I would have expected that one to be one sale by now.

Best Buy puts Mario + Rabbids on sale for $30 (normally $60) every few weeks. It's due for another one very soon. Sales run Sunday-Saturday, so just check on Sunday.

Nice thanks for that. I'll keep an eye out for that so this way I can get donkey Kong too.

Do you have their Gamers Club Unlocked? It might feel a bit odd paying $30 for it -- especially if you already have Amazon Prime -- but Best Buy gives you 20% off games even after release and for collector's editions.

Yea I have prime and gamers club unlocked. Should that game be cheaper? I know DK will be full price. I'm going to try and pick that up today. I was looking at the must have switch games but Splatoon 2 doesn't seem to interest me and I can get Mario cart anytime but that game is more fun when you play with friends. Most of my friends only have one console.

Yeah, Mario & Rabbids can be had for cheaper, but you do have to catch one of the deals. Looking at Slickdeals, they have $23.99 deals listed on March 2, March 23 and April 14.

Arms is a pretty fun party game with a group of people. It's kind of like a kid's version of Tekken that combines boxing with long-range springy arms. Lots of silly fun!

There is a deal for this type of pro controller. Is it the same as the Nintendo one, better or worse?

J&T Switch Wireless Pro Controller for Switch Gamepad Joystick Gyro Axis Dual Shock Support Smash Bros. / Star Allies / Zelda / Mario Odyssey etc. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0788MBCJ5/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_sei8AbNKA8RZ1

Picked up donkey Kong tropical freeze and it's difficult but fun. Making my way through Zelda slowly too. Next I'm waiting for a sale on Mario + rabbids and possibly Splatoon 2 since it has a single player mode too.

There is a game coming later this month that looks like a cool platformer related to nightmares. Looks interesting and probably something I'll pick up too.

Never heard of that brand but at 15% 1 star reviews and the vast majority of them stemming from poor quality (breaking, dying, firmware issues, won't charge, etc) I'd stay away. I know the actual Nintendo stuff is expensive but I usually shell out the money for it as it's built like a tank and will last forever.

That's clearly not the same as the Nintendo one, since it's not the Nintendo one. Just splurge and get the Nintendo one. It's the best controller this gen, if not ever.

I will eventually get the pro controller. I don't mind using the joy cons at all though. I still have not tried the joycons on that handheld adapter the system came with either.

I have 35 Switch games but I keep coming back to Splatoon 2. It’s by far my favorite so far.

Also the Skull & Co. case makes handheld mode 10x as comfortable.

So the online service launches in September for $20 a year and provides access to cloud saves, online gaming, and 20 oldschool games: some crap, but some great games like Super Mario 1 & 3, Zelda 1, and Dr Mario (10 announced so far, 10 yet to be announced).

It's also $15 more (so $35 total) if you want a family share program where you can use the online services with more than one profile.

Don't think I'd use the online services unless so end up with Splatoon 2 and actually get into it. But it's a bit cheaper than psn.

Seems like this is the Virtual Console replacement for sure now as well. While not ideal, I think I'm ok with it. I mean, what, 5 years until their next console more than likely? So $100 to download and play every game they choose to release on it for the next 5 years (hoping that's how it works). The collector in me has reservations, but that seems like a fair price.
