I only responded with one tongue-in-cheek word. You seem to be concerned with my other reply, which was to someone else who got the religion/race part completely backwards. I didn't need to be corrected.
 
That's a good point to bring up. Wearing armor even in a temperate climate will still cook you plenty quick if you are running around for long with the normal carbine, ammo and misc gear to haul. Imagine doing it when it's 92 degrees in the shade.

The Canadians came out with a capillary cooling bodysuit awhile ago. I've heard it's been a big hit with chopper pilots, maybe we'll see something to that effect for infantry, integrated into the armor or their packs, with no pump and water suitcase to carry around.

One more reason to fight at night 😉
Someone inventing an efficient, lightweight armor system that includes passive temperature regulation could become very, very wealthy.
 
Don't forget the neck and chin protector. That bullet looked like it turned to shrapnel spraying in all directions, so a chest shot might send shrapnel on the underside of your jaw.

How does the total thickness/cost/weight compare to other armors? If we could police uniforms with type IV armor with no more discomfort than current type II standards then ... freaking awesome.

...at least a fragment after the initial impact will have significantly lower mass and velocity.
 
it could be an extra-rigid susbstance that shatters the bullet - which means it would do squat to harder bullets. also, i don't see any impact force reduction here.

nothing compared to non-newtonian gels which are about to be deployed soon.

I was thinking the same thing after watching the animation from the high speed camera.
