Well... It was not without considerable angst that I took the job as a car salesman.

Now - I can say it may not have been such a bad move. I sold two trucks my first week... and considering the time invested -- a FAR more lucrative ROI than I.T. ever was.

I don't know if this will be my next "career" - but I know it beats unemployment. ;)

I give my best to all my bretheren who are still looking for work in their (our) field. May God grant you reprieve... and lead you to all you seek. I very sincerely pray this for you all.

I'm toast... but -- maybe it "ain't so bad" to be toast.

Glad things are working out.

I'm happy in my new job, getting to get back into being a DBA, and trying to remember all the query stuff (They have a ton of reports they need me to create).

Only thing sucky is the $$. Got my first week's paycheck. It's sad. I probably will have to take a part time job for awhile until I can get some of my debts paid off, and reduce expenses down to meet income.

But I love what I'm doing. :D Most days.

I too give my best to those out there looking for work in IT.

My son is thinking about dropping out of DeVry (he's in the CIS degree, programming), and maybe looking into another field. He's interested in forensic science, and law enforcement. Considering the DeVry school here has decided to focus on tuition instead of quality education (they let the best JAVA teacher go due to his high "dropout" rate), and the other teachers have no clue. One lady was just parroting information in the textbook, and didn't even realize when there was a typo, or incorrect information (ie Celerons do not have L2 cache).

Plus add to that fact, the increase in companies outsourcing programming and other IT functions overseas, and the fact that only 30 - 40 people out of 800 graduating in his degree have a chance at a job, and I can see why he's frustrated, concerned if he will be employed after he graduates. :(

Glad you are doing well Dan. Cars & Trucks continously go down and people have to get new ones eventually so it is a more stable Industry while like RaySun2Be said I.T. jobs get sent overseas.

I'm glad your son will be getting out of I.T. Dennis, the U.S. clearly does not have it's focus correctly on the importance of a strong I.T. Industry at home and will continue to go down while the rest of the World goes up in leading the charge of the Digital Information Age. It's sad because the U.S. was a leader during the Industrial Revolution.

Congrats DanC!!!

I may try that myself as I have had no luck with anything else.
I worked in 3 different Health clubs when I was younger selling memberships so maybe I should try selling vehicles.
