I'm looking for a good, easy to follow tutorial on modding (soft-mod I hope), upgrading the hard drive, and installing XBMC on my XBox. Reccomendations?

Upgrading the HD on a true softmod is somewhat of a pain. If you have soldering skills and an older xbox (v1-1.5) I would recommend a TSOP flash instead.

If your not going to move it a ton, just get solderless mod chip... I'm an idiot and I did it just fine.

This is the one I used. I've never modded anything in my life, though I can build a computer from scratch. This tutorial worked perfectly.

The only thing I didn't like about the tutorial is that it said to get XBMC from torrent spy.

You can get the more up to date version off of Xbins (actually, the special XBMC xbins). Along with the latest mplayer.dll (faster) here.

You could probably also get the Krayzie's exploit off of xbins too.

Edit:
BTW, it's a great tutorial although I'm not sure if it really helps with upgrading the hard drive. Look on the Xbins servers for the latest XBMC (it's on a seperate server, it'll say it when you log on to xbins and after you do the whole /msg xbins !list thing).

You can figure out how to get onto xbins from here.

Edit2:
When you get XBMC off of xbins, get the latest daily build.
