Hi, I have damaged the original webcam and intend to replace it;
what brand fit (good) for $ 50 budget, have a suggestion? Thanks

Fixed a typo in the title to make it easier for others to search for the thread

been using logitech c920... it's good (720-1080p depending on connection / application), low echo, wide angle

This. The logitech 920 seems to be the gold standard for webcams nowadays.
I agree wholeheartedly although I "only" have the Logitech c910.

I have had it now for about three years and I have no complaints whatsoever - not even a teensey tiny niggle (and I always have a niggle :) )

Mine is an old Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 and does a pretty good job too.
Its only fault is that the rotating web cam head has gone a bit slack so sometimes will not stay in position and gets a bit of 'brewers droop'.

From what I have seen, it does not matter how good it is, it still looks like crap over skype. ;)
