Hi guys,

I would like to buy a web cam which I can point to my front door to take a picture of people who walk up to it (and which can automatically email me the photo).

Do you have any recommendations of which camera comes with software like that (or pehaps a recommendation of software + hardware for that).

I'm assuming that kind of camera would be decent for video chat too. I'm hoping not to spend more than $60-70 for that cam.

Thanks.

I went out and got a creative webcam live.

They do have some monitoring software, but they don't offer authentication (what the weird!!!)

So I began looking around - more professional software like "Active Webcam" has smtp authentication, but it doesn't have SSL authentication... :p Maybe I have to get a logitech cam...

Not sure that you'll be able to find one for around $60-70 w/ software. Logitech however does have a few cams that I believe come with some software. Even a website or something that you can register to check your webcame whenever. I'm not sure about movement sensor type stuff. I know that jacks up the price a bit.

Yeah, it looks like Logitech also has monitoring / movement sensor I think - however, the question is if the email program / utility they use to automatically send an email when there is monitoring enabled, can use my MS Outlook or has its own SSL SMTP stuff.
