I want to get one so my great granmother can stay in better touch with me, has anyone ever used A Cidco email station?

if not, what would another way be to keep in touch, she doesn't have a computer by the way, and i'd have to show her everything, but it'd be worht it to be able to talk to her more often, anyone? i need this ASAP also.

thanks pepsi, maybe someone here has, ok, i'm going to change the title, good way for great grandma to stay in touch via email, any ideas that way?

[edit] RE: CIDCO Mail Station

Just bought one for my gramma about a month ago. ($49 w/ MIR) She loves it! It's easy to setup, easy to use, and the 800# is good all over the country. Plus, there's some pretty good discounts if you prepay a year, 2 years etc. The only thing I regret is not getting the one that accepts attachments. (pictures) It was more expensive, but probably worth it. Hope this helps. 🙂

that was a thought too, but i need to get a lower end, lower priced PC for that also, and i'm kinda on a major budget, this is actually waaayyy outside my budget, but i think taht the benefits outweigh the cost potential

thanks smaulz, i'm debating getting this because theunit is only $15, and for that price it's hard to pass up

bonk, go for it. My wife and I researched quite a few possibilities, including a PC, WebTV, etc. This seemed to be the best bet as far as LOW learning curve, value, and price was a definite plus. 🙂

I think EarthLink has a email station for free, and service is $9.95/mo.

edit: now it's $29.95 after Mail In Rebate

I have set up my kids, parents and grandmother with systems that are low end and have Juno e-mail accounts.

This allows everyone to communicate. If anyone wishes Web access, they can then start footing up the money and/or get a more powerful system.

The systems are all 133s from surplus with Win98 on them.

attachments will mean a lot to your grangran! It will be just a matter of time b/f she will is saying, "PICS?!?!?!?!"

I send out a weekly email to grandparents/greatparents with a pic of either my son, or wife/me/son combo. Its a big hit. Without the pics, it wouldn't be nearly as popular with the seniors.

I know your problem is in getting your granny set up to be able to get emails, I am suggesting that your solution be able to handle attached photos.
