I've been using Forte Agent forever but hardly ever use it now since my usenet provider has web based access. I saw the usenet.net 30 day freebie so signed up to see if the download speeds are better but I need to use a traditional reader to access it. I downloaded a newer version of Agent but they screwed with the interface and made it really annoying to me so I am looking for an alternative. Any recomendations to try would be appreciated.

I know what you mean. Last week I installed the lastest version of Agent and I couldn't get that bloated P.O.S. off of my computer fast enough.

As for your question, I'd like to hear an answer as well.

I paid for Newsleecher and it was the best I've used. That was when I was still using usenet a few months ago.

Do you mean for actually reading posts on newsgroups, or for downloading "filez from teh usenets"?

If it's the latter, I use GrabIt. It very rarely requires me to go into task manager and kill the process, but it's the most stable and unbloated of the free readers I've found.

I like Xnews. I also occasionally use Grabit. SeaMonkey is made by Mozilla so it might be worth trying.

I've used xnews for a few years. Don't have much experience with any other programs so I can't compare it, but it does everything I need.
