Hi. I need a laptop for work. Basic word processing, spreadsheets and making one or two access databases.

Budget is about $600, but there's some wiggle room.

I've looked around, searched the forum. The BB toshiba deal is apparently dead.

Does anyone have an outstanding source? I need to order by Thursday at the latest.

Again - nothing fancy. No need of great graphics or huge hard drive.

Appreciate input.

Check on the FS/FT forums... Post a "want to buy" thread. You'll get a lot of replies hopefully, at least it worked for me!

I'll forgive you for saying the T-word since you're just a no0b. ;)

Words of caution about Tigerdirect - beware of their shady rebates. :|

hey, I joined a month and half after you, just don't post much, do alot of reading though, and I just checked there and they don't have squat. To get a decent laptop you need to spend at least a grand somewhere else.

never have had any problem with there rebates though...just lucky I guess

Dartek (which is just TigerDirect's Business site now damn you Tiger) has a used IBM Thinkpad T22 for $600. The T22's a pretty solid laptop.

This site has a bunch of latitude c610's closing in on $600. I worked on one of those for a while and I really liked it.
