I notice that if I don't shave for a couple of days, the acne gets worse - so therefore I shave reguarly.

But that still doesn't help solve the problem of acne.

I heard that drinking lots of water helps flush out the system, and to make sure I don't eat too much junk food and I should be right.

Any other suggestions??

Thanks

Get some tea tree oil. Burn, but should help. Some lady I know had some acne bad, and this stuff cleared up half her face in a week!

Soap and hot water.

Followed by a mix of turpentine, battery acid, bleach, hydrochloric acid, ammonia, Doritos, nitric acid, glass shards, newt eyes, mosquito testicles, Drano, Lye, soduim hypochlorate, nitroglycerine, silicon from a 486 SX2, and a little salt. Rub briskly onto skin, until face falls off. Repeat as necessary.

1) Lots of water
2) Wash face at least 2x a day with a good facial cleanser (not regular bar soap)
3) Quit eating so much dang junkfood!! --> less M&Ms, KFC, Cake, Pie, candy, etc. ;) (easier said than done, but your weight and teeth will love you for it too).
4) Keep skin moisturized. Even if you use Oxy, Clean&clear or whatever, you need to keep your skin moisturized so your pores don't close up and get cloggged. I think this is a big problem teens have... they use the oxy, which cleans the pores, but the alcohol drys you up.
5) Exercise will help too... an efficiently running body will use up some of that facial goo for energy. HAHAH. LOL. ;) (this one I made up.. but sounds good).

DON'T wash your face more than twice a day
DON'T use clearasil/oxy/stridex products
Go see a dermatologist, it's most likely covered by insurance

Agreed. Go see a dermatologist. They may decide your type of acne will be easily cleared up by the OTC products like Clearasil and Oxy. In my case it was not, I tried OTC products for years and years, none of them brought much if any reduction in my acne. My dermatologist gave me a rather strong prescription of Accutane for 7 months, that was the only thing that even touched it. Yours may not be as severe, however.

Go to the beach often. Either the salty sea or the sun or both REALLY clears up pores. We're talking 100% here. Just watch out that your face doesn't peel off from sunburn. :)

I used to use all of those over-the-counter acne remedies. NOTHING worked.

So, I just started washing my face with Neutrogena (free and clear) in the morning and at night. And I'm careful what I eat. Chocolate makes me break out (people say food doesn't do it, but I think for some it's almost an allergic reaction) and sometimes pop does as well. Try to stay away from a lot of greasy/high fat foods. My face has also cleared up a lot with age. If I'm careful of what I eat, I hardly have any acne anymore.

Clear and Simple.

I recommend a treatment called "Acne Guard," which is THE best acne treatment I've ever used. I used to have my share of acne problems, but ever since my doctor recommended this treatment, it's done wonders.

Acne Guard, comes with:
#1 Cleanser
#2 Liquid Medicated Treatment
#3 Medicated Gel

I agree. Dermatologist was the only thing that worked for me and he told me that the Stridex pads and such are pretty much useless for most people's acne. They have lots of things they can give you that will work wonders. Only problem is is that is sometimes takes months for an apointment. I made one a few weeks back and the first time they had open was Jan 25.

The dermatologist basically told me not to go in the sun..riight...my skin would have turned as white as this computer screen. I found that some tanning/sunburn can actually clear up acne. I had several big pimples on my upper back and then i went out and got a real bad sunburn (don't recommend going this far..) and when it healed up the acne was gone and hasn't returned since :)

[sarcasm] YEAH! That's a good idea! Get rid of the acne, and get cancer! Excellent trade-off! [/sarcasm]

Take the yolk of an egg, scramble it up, put it on your face, let it dry for 10 minutes, then wash it off. Do this once a day. ;)

If you're going for prescription stuff.... i use and recommend Clindamycin Phosphate Gel 1% and Differin Gel. Talk to your dermatologist.. don't take non-medical advice for this ... you really need to do it right, otherwise they will leave scars.. which will be worse!

OK, great.
My acne isn't that bad, in fact I only probably have a few spots but they stand out like dogs balls on a clear skin ;)

So I'll start working with my diet/exercise - mind you, i'm not overweight... I'm 60 kilograms... not sure how heavy that is in pounds, and I'm 18 yrs old.

Cheers

Well then quit whining. Minor acne is a part of teen/young adult life. Just keep your face cleaned and don't be overly unhealthy.

Go to the dermatologist when the acne causes extreme scarring and pain.

I was on Accutane for 4 months. Killed everything. It was great.

But if it isn't THAT bad, then just eat a lot of food with a lot of vitamin A in it (carrots etc). Vitamin A is what makes your skin healthy, and Accutane is a slightly modified version of vitamin A.

I had some problems earlier (and still some today :frown;), and that ProActiv stuff you see in the infomercials helped out a GREAT deal. I had mostly redness, not so much tons of pimples, but ProActiv cleared up both.

Definitely go see your dermatologist. Try to cut back on eating chocolate. Greasy food doesn't give you acne. If the dermatologist perscribes you medicine you probably don't want to go out in the sun without sunscreen because you'll burn easily. Wash your face one or two times a day.

wash your face, live healthy, and try to avoid things that contact the face, like hats and whatnot. Also, try soem grape seed extract. It improves blood flow so that you have a generally cleaner system as everything gets filtered out more efficiently.
