Find that T-Mobile LG Optimus L9 Prepaid Smartphone is only $150 now at amazon.

The price looks good to me. It is a good phone to buy?

Its pretty good. Kinda slow cpu, but snappy enough for basic stuff. Nice screen although lower res. Loads of crapware, most can be disabled. Jellybean update is supposed to be out, I haven't seen it yet. A plus is support for up to 32gb micro sd.

I like to compare it to a droid x in terms of size and screen res, but with a faster dual core proc and newer os and hardware. I bought one, and ended up not being happy with it, sold it to my dad and I got a nexus 4. Depends on how much you use your phone for. I like the fast performance of the nexus 4 and the cutting edge software updates, 2 things you won't get with the l9. That said, its decent and does the job if you don't care about phones that much.

The Optimus L9 is a good phone, but you might also want to look into the Lumia 520 and 521. They're a bit snappier and are more likely to receive consistent updates.

Both are currently the best budget bang for buck phones for their respective OS.

CPU is a bit on the slow side but it's a good phone that should do most basic things fine. Most apps should run ok. The phone probably won't be lightning fast but it won't be dog slow either. It was a mid range phone released last august (a year ago). It has a similar processor and the same GPU as the galaxy nexus which was released 9 months before that. That said, the Galaxy Nexus is still holding up well.

Yeah if you can live with the limitations of Windows Phone, they are better. I would much rather use a low-end Windows phone than a low-end Android phone because WP8 is such a lightweight, snappy OS.
