Good time to buy?

I'm planning on building a $1000 system soon which includes a monitor.

I haven't kept up with the latest and greatest and don't know what's on the horizon in terms of technology or price cuts for that matter.

Is this a good time to buy?

Also, I want to have a dedicated SSD drive for the OS, but not in a rush. Should I just wait till the prices on those come down or have they pretty much settled?

Thanks all.

In 5 years time, you will be able to buy a much faster system than any you can buy today for $1000.
If you have the cash... want a fresh system... Go ahead and buy now.

I realize that. I was thinking more like 2-3 months. If any new technology is scheduled to surface in this timeframe. Like when we went from dual to quad or process architecture went down...

If you're not in a rush, wait the 2-3 months.
It wouldn't hurt you and it would give you time to research upcoming hardware a bit more.
