I think I asked this a loong time ago, but since this eternal question remains, I'll give it another shot.

Does anyone know of any good 3 button mice out there?

Im using a bunch of old Logitech Pilot mice right now, you know the small 3 button things for $7.99.
Now these are ok mice, but no more, they're too small for my big hands, their resolution ain't too great, and sometimes the left button gets stuck, which sucks big time in a game of Quake.

Now the only problem with getting a new mouse is, I absolutely detest wheels, we bought a bunch of wheel mice at work, they were kick ass, good ergonomic design, fit right into my hand, good resolution, optical, very good mice, except for that !#¤&¤/%! wheel.
I tried to get used to it, but it's just not happening, mouse wheel are, by far, the most disgusting thing ever invented by mankind.

Anyway, enough ranting, any suggestions?

Well, I'll have to disagree with you on the whole wheel thing, but that's just subjective. If you want a three button mouse without a wheel, you're really going to have to dig deep. I can't even think of a mouse that's sold anymore without a wheel on it (except maybe compact portable mice). Logitech had a good three-button mouse before the introduction of the wheel years ago that I loved, but you'll be hard pressed to find it. Plus, I think they only made a serial version.

If you can deal with the wheel, I'm using a Logitech Mouseman Dual Optical right now, and it KICKS ASS. I was really hesitant to use an optical mouse because I'd heard they don't track well in games, but I love this mouse. It feels a bit weird at first, but you get used to it quickly. Plus I got rid of my mousepad, so I have a bit more desk space (which is a precious commodity on a college pint-sized desk).

Hender, I think I've used one of those DUal Optical mice.

Rather small, come in different colors, and with one of them little diodes, right?

If it what I think it is, I liked it, except for the wheel, it kicked my old Pilot's ass is just about every aspect.
If only they came with a button instead of that cursed wheel.

I actually tried fastening the wheel on one of those things, and simply use the wheel as a button, and it worked somewhat well, the wheel didnt move, and for desktop use it worked ok as a button, but when gaming, it just didn't cut it.

gpw1 thanks, I'll have a look and see what I can find.

Oh and another idea that would work... a 3 button mouse with a wheel, where the third button is still in the middle, if I could find something like that, I could simply rip the wheel out and just use the three buttons.
Maybe such a thing exists?

Logitech Serial Mouseman. 3 button mouse, hi resolution, serial connection, no wheel. great for a big hand. it's non-optical (i hate optical, no good in games). this is the best mouse ive ever seen, been using it for 6 years and never have had a problem out of it. was about 80$ when it came out. Very comfortable, and very sharp. It's perfect for games. I have a 2000 Boomslang on the way, going to see how it matches up to this one.

Well, solution found. But FYI for the same reason I use a Logitech Mouseman (PS/2) and its retarded stepchild the Wingman Gaming Mouse (USB w PS/2 adapter) which are of the same large three button design. I doubt they are made anymore but I bet there are some gathering dust somewhere. I haven't been hooked by the whole "wheel fad" either. Furthermore all I have to say about optical is "optical schmoptical". ;)

Sometimes I wonder if the wheel really would be useful in FPS games to switch weapons but then I get over it.

Here is another option: GoldTouch 3 Button Mouse

This mouse supposedly sold for $49 when it first came out due to it's ergonomic design. TigerDirect can suck sometimes but for $3.61 + shipping it seems like a good gamble.

Yah, the Logitech Mouseman 3 button and Gaming Mouse are the best 3 button mice ever made. I have two of each sitting around...I have never been comfortable with any other mouse. You can probably find some used somewhere...like e&ay.
