Back when we were all using rotary phones dialing 0 was the way to get connected to a number like +44 (0) 203 137 2981.

The "+" means to dial whatever the appropriate numbers are in your country to indicate you are making an international call. In the US it's 011. Of course, if the call is not international for you, you don't use it.

Hmm. I've only had to make like..two calls to the UK in my lifetime. I don't even have to make one now just felt like posting.

The two times I did I just had the operator connect me. Didn't have to probably though, eh? :p
