I may upgrade my TV soon and I'll definitely go 4K since the wall mount is 4k compatible

I thought that you needed the gold plated connectors for 4K! The guy at Best Buy said that enhanced grounding improves the clarity of the digital signal or something like that.
 
The wall mount that I bought with my flat screen TV has been in the garage for about 10 years. Can I get antique plates for it yet?
