My mobo has integrated sound, and I cant get any of the driver updates to work in win2k, I have been thinking about getting a PCI sound card anyways, and disabling the onboard sound.

Does any body recomend a good soundcard that has win2k drivers available?

Creative Labs Sound Blaster "Live" series.

I like the "Live Value"......about $40 on Price Watch.

I just got a SB Live! (CT4830). I had some problems installing it at first (W2K stop errors), but I eventually booted in safe mode and figured it out.

It has wreaked havoc and totally screwed my W98 setup though. I guess Live!Ware3 decided to take over. Now I can't even boot W98 since "Explorer.exe has caused a general protection fault."

Finally gave up on trying to get my Turtle Beach Quadzilla to run under and swapped it with a SB Live (value) and life is now good...

Yet another vote for the SB Live

Had a Xitel Storm Platinum (vortex2) but it didn't work right in 2000 so I got a Live! and haven't been happier :)

I have an Diamond MX300 that hasn't given me any problems whatsoever but there've been a considerable amount reported on the 'net so I'd have to reluctantly recommend the SB Live also...

Another vote for SB Live!. This decision is mainly based on the fact that the Live! still has a company around making new drivers for it. Now that I have Live!Ware 3.0 for Win2k, I couldn't be any happier. It gives me all of the features I need plus more. I'm an amateur MIDI composer and this little $45 card does more than the AWE64 Gold I paid $200 for (plus $100 worth of memory upgrades) three years ago.
