Doug - I'm in the same boat as you - I've been looking for a quiet 60mm fan to pair with an Alpha for a couple days - check my post below. Help me search - maybe we can find something together :)

I guess the silverado is one, but expensive and hard to find. I still favor the CGK 742/760 topped with a quiet 80mm fan, just let the excess blow off the sides or gmake an adaptor for it to be a little cleaner. You can just cut the existing shroud in 4 and mount it backwards to mount your 80mm fan too (hard to explain :p).

Tada! My CGK topped with a 80mm fan

Gizzo: Where did you get that adapter from? Did you make that yourself? I just ordered a Taisol 76xxx HSF, and I think a 80mm fan would be nice. If you don't mind, what are the specs on the fan you're using there? PEACE.

:) sub 30dba and good? good for what? stock settings maybe but not for overclocking. I never heard of that beast.

The NoiseControl Silverado does have impressive statistics for the few reviews I've seen but I haven't seen one reviewed by http://www.2cooltek.com/revised_test.html. I really trust these tests, they seem much more scientifically based.

Ya I make them myself, I can make you one if you want, PM me if your interested.
That fan thats sitting on the CGK is just for looks its not mounted, in my own system i use a PCP&C Silencer 80mm 28cfm @ 20dB.

Whats odd about the silverado makes it stand out, not that the base is made of silver big whoopee, copper is about the same. It that is uses blower fan, that covers a small area but at a very strong air pressure, im gonna try experamenting with 2 Nidec Gamma at 7v mounted on my CGK, if it follows what seen by others with the silverado, it should be pretty impressive due the CGK is much bigger right off, and manufactored better.
