Good Single Player games (no internet+no video card)

I'm going to work for the summer and wont have internet...Need some good single player games but the catch is I have a good laptop with the worst video card ever...its a lenova, meant for business so yea...advice thanks

You're going to have to reach back then. I use my laptop at work where I have no net, and it too has an awful video card. I have the Baldur's Gate series, VTM: Redemption, System Shock 2, Black and White, Warcraft III, and some other oldies on it. All great games, all don't need much hardware. What kind of games do you like?

Heroes of Might and Magic III + all expansions and the Wake of God mod, old adventure games, Civ IV might work.

Total Anihilation & Kingdoms
Baldurs Gate 1 & 2
Warcraft 2
Heroes Of Might & Magic 3
Dungeon Keeper 1 (if you can find it)
Disciples 2 Gold

What type of games do YOU enjoy?

Personally, i'd go w/ HL 1 & 2, Doom3, CoD 1, 2 & 4. That should keep anyone busy through the Summer.

Half Life 1 perhaps? Try downloading the latest drivers for the integrated video on the laptop. It will probably help.

If it's an ATI card, he can get the Omega drivers - on my laptops X300 I can play Oblivion with everything on medium @ 640x480 with the Omega drivers.

Sometimes it works like that. When I'm working EMS and I don't have anything to do (I do a lot of managerial/logistics work) I've got free time if there are no calls so I'll play games/watch TV/do homework. Great college kid job.

yes? you make it sound inconceivable...I'm working away for the summer so I wont be near friends/family so just trying to figure out some way to entertain myself without being bored to death when I'm off work

. . . Civ IV might work.

System Requirements for CivIV.
1.2 GHz Processor, 256 MB RAM, 64 MB video card w/ Hardware T&L + Pixel shader, sound card, 1.7 GB HDD

Not sure how flexible CivIV is with the system requirements, but it really does depend on what video chip we're talking about here.

GMA900, 950? Older?

Deus EX. can't go wrong if you never played it. Will probably last 2 weeks if you play it the right way. Another week to play like a pacifist and another week to gun everything down. I'm playing it for the 3rd time, so i'm packing big gunz. It never gets old.

Could you tell us which integrated video card you have? This could help me tell how how well these games will run...

First person shooters: Half Life 1 + Blue Shift + Opposing Force, Deus Ex, Quake, Quake 2

RPG: Elder Scrolls: Morrowind (might run?)

RTS: Command and Conquer, Red Alert, StarCraft

Other, but some of my personal favorites: Myst, Riven: The Sequel to Myst, Myst 3: Exile

I would suggest Civ4 and perhaps Kotor might run depending on your laptop, have a look at the requirements.

I'd say...

Baldur's Gate 1&2 plus the expansions

Those should last you for quite a while!

Also, Fallout 1 and 2. And System Shock 2.

All those games have great stories, aren't very demanding to the hardware (hardly any demands actually, they run on all IGPs I'm sure). And if you manage to finish all those games during your leave then it really must be a long one 😉 And be sure to get a wide resolution mod for the BG series, so it will run and LOOK good 🙂 Here's a link for convience:

There's also one for Fallout 2:

Enjoy!
