I accidentally hosed my external drive during a windows installation. I deleted the partition by accident.... Anyone had good luck with any of the available recovery software?
I have had great experiences with this. It has worked terrificly on NTFS and FAT32 drives that I accidentally erased/formated/hosed royally. http://r-tt.com/
It's worth every penny,
I feel very sorry to know that you lost your data. I came across interesting utility that many people don't know about. I hope that you will also find this Windows Backup Utility very useful to save your precious data from being vanished. Always learn from mistakes.
I actually repartitioned a drive (like 4 or 5 times) and used it for different things. HR found 29 ( !!! ) different partitions on the drive and I saved everything I needed (My DVD backups went bad 🙁 ).
Best of all, you can download it for free to see if it works, and see how the interface is (wonderfully simple yet full featured). The only catch with the 30 day trial is it only lets you recover one file a day (30 of them obviously).
In the past I used Norton GoBack 2002 and I successfully restore my complete system several times.
In the present I'm using GoBack 4.0 which is part of Norton SystemWorks 2005. GoBack 4.0 has great features because now you can restore individual files, etc etc.
