I'm looking for some games for the girl. Puzzle and tetris like games she really likes. Also popcap type games.

Are there any really good ones that I can buy and know they'll be fun?

I've had my R4 for over a year now and played many puzzle games. This gem isn't very popular so you might be able to get it on the cheap, but you won't be sorry. I still play it between games that I'm really into all the time, it just never gets old for me. I'd seriously put it in my personal top 5 for the DS even though some really good games have came out since its release. Look into it and you'll probably see all you need to know about if you'd like it from the first gameplay screenshot.

PS: If you're a scrabble/wordgame fan, you MUST get Wordjong. Another obscure one with great replay value.

really? got a 5/10 on gamespot.

found the name of that game... its called puzzle league.

Also, Air traffic Chaos is supposed to be a really good DS puzzle game.

besides Tetris DS, I really like Bust-A-Move, and puyo pop fever. Meteos is overrated, but has an amazing production value for a puzzle game.

QuickSpot (although not a puzzle game) was addictive. In QuickSpot, the same image is displayed on both screens, but there are tiny differences between the two that you have to find. CrossworDS was good too.

There's an awesome puzzle game out - you have to buy the Opera Browser for your DS and then navigate to the following url: http://forums.anandtech.com ... Once you login, you have to determine where to properly post a thread.

That or I recommend TetrisDS ... love that game.

Professor Layton and the Curious Village

I enjoyed this one too, but it does have a LOT of puzzles that have been around for years. I don't know how old the OP's girl is, but some of these puzzles are DIFFICULT.

That's a good one. Challenging and promotes critical thinking. OP definitely get this.

The upcoming Henry Hatsworth game is supposed to be really well done as well.

If you made a pie chart of the time usage on my DS, Puzzle Quest and Meteos probably occupy more than a majority.

I loved Professor Layton and the Curious Village, but got annoyed at the dozen or so puzzles whose difficulty lay in the ambiguity in what was being asked.

Thanks for the input fellas - you've given me enough to look at. Love picking up her valentine present on the same day.
