Good Purchase???

There's another thread still fresh somewhere about this backup option in general. I think it may be the case that my cousin has a 1TB unit similar to it.

No doubt about it though. For that much capacity, the price is right -- if:

If the unit's power supply and interface is solid and doesn't go south. And that's not likely to happen, compared to the day you could buy an external drive with shaky components.
 
I have five of them. One still in the external case, plugged into a NAS, for a week or two. Still working OK.

The other four, I "shucked", and put into a different 4-bay NAS unit. So far, so good.

Heard bad things about those drives on the 'net, after I bought them, of course. Mostly about the shucked versions being sold on Amazon and ebay, not having any warranty, and not working well in a NAS.
