I'm flying there tomorrow with a honey and taking the bus into Avalon. I have never been there before, what's a good casual place to go for lunch?

(bonus is that this is also a YAGT!! aren't you excited! actually the honey is this girl from work, I asked her to fly to Catalina with me having gotten my private pilot license last year. pretty impressive first date eh? anyway I have done all but announce "THIS IS A DATE" but from her tone she either doesn't get it or isn't really interested. bummer. I will have to woo her tomorrow and see if I can win her over. If not, she can take the boat back :) )

My girlfriend and I loved Catalina Island when we went there a couple months ago. We landed on Two Harbors and then hiked eight miles to our campsite at Little Harbor. We had a site right in front of the beach and spent the next two days getting high, eating campfood, and playing in the beach. It was so much fun that we added a third day at the Two harbors campground. We didn't go to Avalon simply because we heard it was more resorty/touristy. That's not such a bad thing except that we were training for our Grand Canyon hike. Next time we go, we'll check out Avalon.

Would you like some pics?

Sure I'll look at pics of your gf ;) All that stuff sounds like fun, but I'm only going for the afternoon. I was checking out their website, The Landing looks like a decent casual place. I am more concerned about my own landing, that runway sucks ass.

I have eaten there. Ate breakfast at some place right there along the shore in the harbor.
I ate lunch there too but I can't remember where, nor can I remember the names of any resturants there.
Guess I am not much help.
But I had a blast there! Took a boat ride, kayaked around some. (?)
have a nice TimE!

i have been to catalina every year of my life, its kind of a family tradition. i personally don't like the landing so much but my family members really do.

prego's has good italian food, armstrong's has good seafood but is more of a dinner place. the pizza place antonio's has lots of good things to eat (not just pizza) and has outside seats overlooking the water.

or for real casual i always go to rosie's on the pier, er i guess they renamed it avalon seafood. theres no dining room though, you just sit on the stools outside or take it over to the beach.

but i'll tell you where not to go...catalina cantina. it looks interesting because they have these seats that sit right on the main walkway where all the shops are. but the food is really bad, i've tried it several times and not once has anything tasted even remotely good.

hey thanks CaptainHefe. A couple of those weren't on the website so it's good of you to list them.
